Good question. I didn't, and I got extreme pressure from both my in-laws and my parents to do so. My husband, who's an evolved guy (heck, I married him!), stuck up for me all the way and insisted I keep my name. His name is hard to spell, mine is easy - that helped too. We always make dinner reservations under my name.

thanks mojo for the complement, tradition seems to be the pressure tool mostly used against women by family and friends. however, it is really tradition or control? i guess it really depends upon ones own interpretation regarding tradition and control :)
My wife didnt either its just a pain because have to change all your cards and everything to a new last name.
