COMMENTS:
I suggest greed. It seems to me that Greed is the root emotion that generates so many of the other negative ones. Without greed, I believe there would be less envy, hatred, anger, and jealousy. Would that guilt was a more *common* emotion. Maybe that would repress some of the others, as well.
Oops ... I may have misread the question ... seems to be targeted more on a personal, rather than psychological level. Obviously I need more coffee! ;)
Greed's a good one. Wish I'd thought of it.
I would agree with greed as well
I would say greed too. greed comes from fear though, which is way more emotional and sometimes hidden behind more of the bad feelings we have-
Cathexis makes a really good point. Personally I'll say anger, because when you don't do anything about anger and just let it build up in you and don't let it go, that's more dangerous, both to yourself and people you know, than anything else.
Guilt, all the others will pass, but guilt will eat you up slowly because it ends up being about what has been done and can't be undone.
Guilt is an unhealthy emotion because you shouldn't regret what you've already done, no matter what you did. Maybe you should exercise better judgment in the future, but there just isn't a point in feeling guilty.
Jealousy,it destroys relationships and the human spirit and effectively covers all the ballot choices.
Cathexis made great points and agree with her. I feel that jealousy can cause many negative feelings. For example, jealousy starts first which will lead to unnecessary anger, self-insecurity, extreme possessiveness, greed, anxiety attack and unreasonable thoughts. These are destructive to a relationship.
pity.
There's no such thing as an unhealthy emotion. There are a multitude of unlhealthy emotional REACTIONS, but no emotion could be considered healthy or unhealthy.
Voted : Anger
Its a toss between Hatred and Anger for me, because they both seriousley negatively effect those around you more than all the others...I think...
