I was in an inter-racial marriage. It failed, but the cultural difference was only a minor factor.
Mixed race children are frequently very healthy and intelligent, inheriting from two rich sources of genetic material. Our daughter is *wonderful* (I would say that, I suppose). I just hope she doesn't have to put up with too much shit from racists.
I think it should neither be encouraged or discouraged. People can make up their own minds. Mixed race children are just as beautiful as pure race children just as all the different races are beautiful in their differences from one another. I wish race wasn't such a big issue.
Of course there should be more ways to encourage racial harmony then just interracial marriges, but I support them. It just warms my heart to see people of different colors blending...kinda signals that there is hope for this pathetic race of beings. :)
i got into a debate with an ex-friend about this several years ago. he argued that mixed race children would suffer from psycological problems and anxieties because they wouldn't be able to identify themselves with a particular race, that both sides would reject them. i think that's bullshit, though...
It sounds as if you want society/government to take a more active role. Such societal social engineering would most likely be viewed dimly.
Personally, I don't think government has any business, encouraging or discouraging, any form of marriage.
My personal take is that the government shouldn't promote anything societally aside from equality -- and in that sense, perhaps I worded the question wrong. However, it'd be nice for more inter-racial marriages to occur. It would definitely break down racial barriers.

Only middle class whiteys even tork about fucking race and "genetics" .Timeless spiritual cultures and even just cool regular people dont know what the fuck race is even.Its not about acceptance.Once the distinction is already made about something , big ears, acne , too tall , too short , whatever , then its too late.Doesnt matter what the object is.Racism doesnt exist in that sense.
The horizontal mambo between two spiritual beings is not inter-racial.
All cultures are keenly aware of race or at least ethnicity. They are aware of who the "barbarians" are (to them, anyway) and who are outsiders. Their reactions vary--some are rabidly xenophobic, others are more tolerant. However, very few take these outsiders as seriously as their own. Bemused curiosity's about the best you can hope for, like a Westerner strolling through Tibet.
How about encouraging marriage that will bear children with an advantage in life?How utterly simplistic it is to press for homogenizing everybody so we can all get along.
