Why do people jam pack themselves into certain so-called 'hotspots' every holiday weekend? They become super crowded and filthy! Back to nature, right?

COMMENTS:
It's the "herd" mentality. For some reason, people feel most comfortable in groups. I can go to the beach, find a spot far away from anyone and it's a guarentee that someone, along with their seven kids, will park it right next to me with a block of open beach available to them. Never fails.
