IS PLESURE JUST A CHEAP SUBSTITUTE FOR HAPPINESS?

COMMENTS:
Fantastic question. I believe happiness, fleeting and self-serving as it may be, is part of the emotional spectrum of happiness. There are short-cuts to pleasure, such as taking drugs, drinking, having sex, or eating delicious ice cream - that may fool us into thinking we are happy because we are so wrapped up in that marvelous emotion that we either aren't or don't want to think about our long-term happiness. Of course, pleasure is natural and intrinsic to our nature. If pleasure didn't exist, our species wouldn't survive!
oop that were me
Maybe watching the sunset was a short moment of happiness. Happiness is contemplation rather than action.
I was just reading my ballot and I realized I made a mistake. In the first paragraph substitute the word "pleasure" for happiness. Goddamn it.
I got that anyway. :--)
Neither pleasure, happiness, nor love is really worthwhile.
