COMMENTS:
marage is a sacred bond between man and woman not man and man
Marriage is a bond between two people who vow to spend their lives together. How can you dismiss love, no matter the package it comes in???
I don't think Gay people should be allowed to get married... or at least until I find someone... If not I'll be odd man out... again!

No way! Because then you have all the people who are *already* gay getting into committed, monogamous relationships and not engaging in promiscuity and the associated disease risks and creating stable, loving family units in society and ... and ... Er ... that is to say ... Never mind. ;-)
Right on, Tads.

Well they get married here i dont think anyone really cares. The government has no right to tell people who they can or canot love.
Its not about marrage, its about the rights marage brings under laws, if 1 person in a gay partneship dies, the other can be left with nothing, because there not technicly married, gay people want the legal and financial rights marrage brings
..and they deserve those same rights.
Lazy_N_Crazy, but not stupid, lol...

Gay marriage is like gay sex - abnormal , distastful and disgusting. Women aswell as men were put on this earth to look after it and create future beings.
I don't know about that.I think they should be able to have a same equal right as hetero sexual people.as long as they pay taxes. But again if they decided to stary family by adapting kids or whatever,I think there would be some potential problems.so I'm not sure about this issue.
Gays should be allowed to marry.Gays like straight people need the rights and protection that marriage brings. It's not about morals or religion it's about civl rights.
Wright: So I shouldn't eb allowed to get married because I am unlikely to have children? I think the procreation argument is a tad weak, myself.
This would be the first time the constitution was amended to discriminate against people.

It is not morally right for two people of the same sex to marry. It is part of the corruption of the world. It is not right. I guess if you have no religeon or morals then you wouldnt understand.
It is not discrimination x__. Marriage is supposed to be between a man and woman - not two of the same sex. I personally don't mind gays being "couples", and I do not discriminate against them, I treat them the same as anyone else. I just dont think there should be same-sex marriages.
((realizing that some people are just plain different (not even mean or 'evil') doesn't make you immoral. Being able to understand people who aren't like you IS however moral. If stopping same sex marriages means changing the constitution then that's violating the seperation of church and state the old men used to be so proud off, so proud they put it in the Constitution.. oh wait.. oh I get it now, they're changing that too..))

They shouldn't be allowed to get married for the simple reason that the influence of these actions would be traumatic towards society, mainly children. While growing up, kids are suppose to observe and distinct the difference of two sex in order to understand how two very different individuals are able to create them and how both parents in different ways are able to care for them in different situations. Having two "moms" or two "dads" aren't gonna do. If the child is a boy, he needs both the male rollmodel and the tender loving from a female. If a girl, she needs a female roll-model and a male figure to teach her and guide her. It's a process of discovering who you are as an individual. Not a simple "prejudice" as some of you want to make it out as. If homosexuals want to go their way and be "committed" to eachother that's their decision. But to allow it and condone it by giving them marriage priveledge as a society is another. While you may think you're doing the right thing by allowing "absolute freedom" for everyone and anyone, you're doings are much severe than you realize.
"Having two "moms" or two "dads" aren't gonna do. If the child is a boy, he needs both the male rollmodel and the tender loving from a female" You have to be kidding! Have you never been in a supermarket and seen some "tender loving" mother beat the crap out of her kid? Heterosexuals need to get their own houses in oreder before telling other people how to raise their kids.
Describe to me what you mean by "beating the crap out of her kid". Was she beating with a baseball bat? if she was, then she would probably be in jail by now. Maybe you were referring to "discipline". I personally don't have a problem with spanking.(not severe beating at a point that the child is bruised up, make no mistake) Getting back to the subject, you missed my point entirely! I'm not claiming all hetrosexual parents to be perfect. Let me say this one-more-time. Children need both the father and the mother. Not a man posing as a mother nor a woman posing as a father. It's FALSE and confusing to a child. They know infact they weren't procreated by their supposed "moms" or "dads".
Dani: I would suggest that whether it is "Morally Right or Wrong" is beside the point. The real question would be: What is Government's role in restricting people and imposing a morality. In the case of murder or rape, the victim is a person who did not consent -- I say Government should and must intervene. In the case of gay marriage ... that is a personal moral issue and I'd say it is between them and whatever God/ church they have. Government must protect society and civil liberties, not protect us from Sin, however that may be defined.
To the spanking comment: Spanking is wrong, no matter if the damage is minimal. I'm still a teenager and when I was younger it really hurt me as a kid for a parent to spank me for something I did wrong. A simple yell and stern point of the finger will do.
Civil unions for gays and marriage for straights.
I'm not sure why people get married or even want to live together, unless they're just doing it for convenience, to have children, or to follow the social norm. Are these reasons enough to justify gay marriage? I don't think so.
That makes absolutely no sense it's their lives not yours and not everybody is a christian so you shouldn't force your religion on to other people. There is a seperation between church and state. And don't give me that bs on how god would have made Adam and Steve, not that's stupid he wouldn't have because he would need a woman to reproduce, genious. If they love each other than why stop them and doesn't that kind of conflict with the pursuit of happiness. I hear a lot of people say that they don't care if you are gay as long as they don't get married, why shouldn't they be aloud to get married?, they love each other and that's all that should matter. I think that it's okay to disagree with it as long as you don't stop people from doing it, for example I think that getting breast implants is wrong but who am I to stop them from doing it, it's not my life so why should I worry about it?
Oh yeah and a lot of men out there are uber homophobes don't like to men together than why do they have no problem when they are women together?
Cuz when it's hot lezbian axshun, itÂ’s like, DIFRENT & STUF!!!!!11

Marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman. However, a civil union between 2 adults of any sex, is ok by me.
Wow, I hope when people voted for my 'Gays get civil unions, u know, separate but equal' option, they noted the sarcasm! What a joke, remember how well it worked last time? What are the arguments thus far AGAINST gay marriage? Because it is morally wrong? Morally wrong to whom!? You? Then don't enter a homosexual marriage! That's not a valid argument, that's an opinion! Because it is defined as between a man and a woman? So what! Redefine it! That's circular reasoning! Because of the children? Since when can a gay marriage create children? You're assuming they will adopt more. That's the Slippery Slope. Gay couples can already and do already raise children! Only as of now, they are not allowed to have the complete 'family life' given by two loving MARRIED parents. How do you think this affects them, that their parent's love for one another isn't even valued in this society!? Come on, somebody here give a reasonable argument. I DARE YOU!!!
I suppose I do not have a valid argument. I really did not intend to say that my own opinion (of which I am entitled)was shared by everyone.
Because it says so in the dictionary. ;)

magdalenasdollar: If I weren't engaged, I'd offer you hot oral sex as a reward for that one. RIGHT ON.
I agree ads21 that marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman. It would be kinda hard for a guy to get pregnant if in a gay relationship.
If you let gay people get married that would be totally gay.
When Divorce is illegal and Adultery is a Federal crime, I might be in favour of gay marriage. Otherwise, it's a cheap tax shelter for people who can't naturally reproduce and have nothing real to bind them.
poo babies. need i say any more

I'm surprised. He's absolutely right.
I don't see how such a small minority of people living together and loving each other is going to ruin the world. Shouldn't society stop focusing on something so small and focus on the real problems like the way our children are being bought up. eg(children seeing their fathers continually beating and raping their mothers. being molestered by family members. Not having enough food. Being constantly told they are worthless and should be dead. Getting beaten and tortured. Locked in rooms for years on end). Families with a mother and father don't automatically give children a ticket to a safe and loving environment, a family can't guarantee a childs safety. I know of children who have a gay mother (whos's in a relationship) and they don't understand what the problem is with people disliking gay people. These girls are decent normal girls being bought up in a safe and loving environment. And people are saying it's not good for them??? some people need to wake up and focus on the real problems of this world.
They should because it's about love not gender!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
