WHO IS GEORGE W. BUSH MORE LIKE; ADOLF HITLER OR JESUS CHRIST?

[+] ballot by RobinGaylord
created Sat Jul 10, 04

Just so that everyone is familiar with the two choices.
Jesus Christ lived his entire life in poverty, had very few followers in his lifetime, never did any drugs stronger than alcohol, was willing to die for what he believed in at a fairly young age and never asked anyone to do anything he wouldn’t do himself because he never thought of himself as a greater person than anyone else.
Adolf Hitler exploited the working class to come into power, led unprovoked wars against other nations, used his influence to control the media, claimed that people against him were unpatriotic, used the “tragic” stock market crash as an excuse to execute his agenda, was loved by many big business entrepreneurs (Henry Ford), was revered by many of his fellow politicians and his critics were fearful of speaking out against him.
What do you think? Who is George W. Bush more like; Adolf Hitler or Jesus Christ?

Adolf Hitler
Jesus Christ

COMMENTS:
He's more like some late Roman Emperor--sticking his head cautiously out of the palace from time to time to see what the barbarians are burning to the ground, sending half-loyal generals out on useless punitive raids against the barbarians, spending a great deal of time in Church, and mostly just living with the fact he's neither particularly bright and heredity's largely brought him his fortune. So, call him Honorius Bushicus. On the other hand, his opposition's someone who spent about 4 months marching and the rest of his life with his ass planted on a bench in the Senate or seducing wealthy heiresses--so he's almost as useless.

Crap, we really are doomed.

Hitler and Christ had a lot more in common than most people realize. together, they founded the Chysler automotive company.

interesting, though an unfair question... most "successful" people on earth would be more of a hitler than jesus by that comparison.

Hitler, with a qualification. I have to concur with the latter half of LCD's response; but, upon reflection, disagree with the first part. To be completely honest, Robin, I think most of your questions are unfair (and I stick with that assertion, because you never asked anyone to kiss your derriere, as far as I know, and it's true, I think most RobinGaylord ballots are unfair, but hey, so is most everything else in this world, and I've come to accept that, so what's the big deal?)...but, this one seems fair to me...until now, I have considered the possibility that perhaps you are quite condescending and rude to people who disagree with you; but, then you throw in a question like this to prove me wrong...my answer disturbs me more than your question...you see, until now I wasn't going to bother telling you, or anyone else on this site this: I'm a believer; but, I don't scream it everywhere. All I know about GW is that he "claims" to be a believer; it's not for me to question the veracity of THAT statement of his. I used to go around telling people I was Christian; and, the very term Christian means "christ-like" as I am sure you are very well aware...you're an incredibly well informed atheist...and as with many atheists I have heard, you have a far greater intellectual command of the contents in the books of the Bible than most people who claim to be Christian. You probably have a better command of those books than I do. I am much more comfortable with the use of the word "christian" as an adjective than as a noun. As a noun it becomes a label. I like the response one believer on the Oprah show once gave (I forget her name). She said, and I paraphrase: You ask me if I'm Christian? My most honest answer is "in spots". I apologize for digressing from your topic. As I said, I agree with the latter half of LCD's observation, and I don't think that the words "successful" or "that" had to even be placed as qualifiers. To THIS believer, most people including myself would be more Hitlerian than Christian by comparison. That's not to put myself or anybody else down...understand that from time to time, "i" worship "HIM" (Christ), and to my belief, Good and Evil are bigger than ordinary human beings. I'm no saint, I claim spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection. What has endeared this particular ballot to me, RG, is the fact that you referred to HIM as Jesus Christ, rather than by HIS historical handle (yes, seon, the historicity of the MAN is not challenged by almost any educated and reasonable historian, whether Atheist, Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, or Buddhist, you name it.) He is known to Historians as Jesus of Nazareth. Christ (greek root) is a title meaning Messiah (hebrew? root). Try to realistically imagine how it would be received if somebody came on this site and suggested that Siddartha Gautama "probally" (sic) never "exsisted" (sic)? (if you think I'm ridiculing your response, seon, I regret that perception, as I'm just giving it back to you the way you gave it to us, (i surtanly misspel wurds at tyms) and the question stands: How would a user who came on questioning whether Gautama (whom some call Buddha, and I respect that, I've derived some good from his teachings) ever existed be received? Knowing how brutal most of us have shown ourselves to be, I shudder at the thought of what somebody might say to that person, seon. Also, RG, you have said nothing here which bashes or disrespects the man, Jesus of Nazareth. I'm not bashing you, and I certainly mean no disrespect to you in anything I've ever said here about you, or even atheists, for that matter. It just seems to me that the writer of this ballot (the RobinGaylord who woke up July 10, 2004, is that when you wrote it?) is coming from a tacit position that Jesus of Nazareth was, actually, a really good guy. Obviously I have a far higher opinion of HIM than that; but, in the end, it's only my opinion. All I can say is, it works just great for ME. I am a far better man than I was before I became a believer. Being a believer has improved MY life. If it doesn't work for you or others, then, I dunno...now I'm getting into the "iffy" part of my understanding...who am I to second guess GOD?...I make no apologies for my beliefs, and I mean no harm to anyone...I don't want to label anybody, because I intensely dislike being labeled and I try to live by the Golden Rule. Also, sometimes my beliefs have to be "tweaked" as I sometimes am made aware of misconceptions that I have previously held.
