WHY ARE PEOPLE TRYING TO PORTRAY INTERNATIONAL POLITICS IN THIS WAY?

[+] ballot by cretin_slap
created Fri Jul 16, 04

I saw this in a discussion on this site. I won't say who it was written by because there are a few who could have squeezed it out. Whatever happened to civilised diplomacy? Is the world lost to the chicken-hawk neo-con liars?

Can't you see that 'actively destructive' begets 'passively destroyed'? Wouldn't you rather be actively destroying those who wish to kill us, or would you rather wait to be passively destroyed?

Because it is their job to fill the world with hate.
Because that's the way int'l politics works
Diplomacy Doesn't Work On Terrorists

COMMENTS:
herzog. You need not comment on this ballot. Your motto on your user page reads, "The best defence is your opponent bleeding on the ground."

I believe the threat from Iraq was either grossly exaggerated or completely made up in order for the current administration to carry out their long held plans of massive upheaval and violence in the Middle East. I certainly can't see it getting any better in the near future.

Let's here from Kristol's parrots...

cretin_slap, I completely agree. Thanks for making this ballot.

I said it and I stick by it. It's O.K. you can tell the people who it was.

My point was this: there was/is a loose organization between highly developed terrorist organizations and Middle Eastern nation states that has a mutual and vested interest in seeing my country suffer. al Qaeda has acted upon it. Within a half-hour, over 2000 innocent Americans were murdered. Saddam has lorded over his people for 30 years, crippling his homeland opposition and defying the international community. His aggression has been proved in Kuwait, Iran, upon his own people and in his desire to build a nuclear arsenal. This to me sets a precedent of selfishness, and destructiveness. He has 'actively destroyed' and been complicit and directly involved in the deaths of soldiers and allies of the United States.

Rationally you can't argue against my assertion that actively destructive begets passively destroyed, especially in the case of terrorism, and the war we are fighting. In this case, if our government hesitates, then we die.

Working everyday across the street from the Sears Tower, and 42 floors up, the threat of terrorism is a little more important to me than it may be for some people. I prefer not to die for something as stupid as what al Qaeda terrorists are murdering people for. In fact, I prefer instead that we uproot their leaders and help pave the way for their citizenship to be educated, instead of incited by corrupt, self-proclaimed agents of Allah. This may sound paranoid, but whatever, you can have your opinions too.

Also, civilized diplomacy is fine for civilized countries. 95% of the world's nations are civilized and the U.S. and U.K. have normal relations with them. But 'civilized' diplomacy is predicated on the fact that both parties are civilized, which we don't have in the case of international rogue, Saddam Hussein.

Also your comment about "chicken-hawk neo-con liars" does nothing for your own credibility as someone who seeks civilized diplomacy.

They're chicken hawks (because they push for war but avoided national service). They're neo-cons (because they are characterised by their right wing views and penchant for Strauss and Heidegger). They're liars (because they tried to tell the public in America and Britain that Saddam Hussein, who was helped into power by America was a clear threat to the safety to our countries).

They are chicken-hawk neo-con liars, supposable thumbs.

Plus your post is vague about these connections that are/were between the terrorist organisations and the Islamic states. That is because there really isn't much of a connection to find. There is more evidence for the idea that most Muslims countries are controlled by British and American money .

Just like before the other two world wars there are people who are making look like we have no choice other than to go to war. That's you supposable thumbs.

Hey cretin, what about all those people currently serving in the military in iraq, who support the war and identify themselves as republicans? (which seems to be a majority given all the polls I've seen). Would they be just a bunch of warmongering chicken hawks or do you have a different label for them? Perhaps 'brainwashed drones' or 'mindless baby killers'?

Good international feelings would be great, but the door swings both ways and it will never happen until everyone stops being ignorant about things. Not one side, not the other, everyone. So, yeah, its not happening any time soon. I think there are few that want to portray the politics this way, it just happens.

I don't like to get involved in politics =p
