5, 10 years tops, digital manipulation will be so good you won't even know if you're sitting at your keyboard happily typing away or floating in a tub of goo like in THE MATRIX.
Aha! So there still IS a use for non-digital cameras! (I love photography, but am not wild about digital cameras)
I don't know how you fake a negative, or if that's even possible.

Good point Applerod,
Tweaking an existing negative would VERY difficult to do without leaving tell tail signs of tampering and creating a convincing one from scratch would be damn near impossible.
