WHAT INVENTION HAD THE GREATEST IMPACT UPON THE WORLD?

COMMENTS:
Electricity, hands down, every choice so far uses electricity to operate in some fashion.
Cletu..then you should likely vote for the electric power generator.
Every "choice" doesn't use electricity, Cletu. A wheel? Eye glasses? Even simple water closets didn't use electricity. As for what has helped the most people, my choice is antibiotics (and understanding of harmdul microbes) which came hand in hand with MUCH cleaner operating booths and treatment of toxic wounds.
Nuclear warheads. We never should have let that Genie out of the bottle.
I am sorry guys, but you are all wrong. Gun powder has had the worlds greatest impact. It lead to the rise and fall of the greatest empires in history. The Chinese invented it, the europeans perfected it. The world was changed after the invention and implementation of weapons using gun powder. Maybe electricity comes in second.
I love this discussion. gun powder is a fascinating addition to the mix. Keep up the great work, everyone!
1. Electricity 2. Printing press 3. wheel 4. photograph 5. sight glasses
yea, I guess live broadcasting should be in there.
The wheel, without which the progress of mankind would have halted in the Jurassic period
I
I think the first primitive weapons that allowed the first human to be able to hunt, and to defend against animals had the most impact. Before that we were just another animal, not the supreme beast we've become.
after fire we became predators before we could never relax and invent other things, sure we bicked up rock and sharp sticks, but before fire we struggled as a species Of course another important thing was. language to impart any knowledge to offspring. So there we have it ... fire and language were omitted until nearly last doesn't anyone think these are important ?
Has to be FIRE.
The meteorite/asteroid that wiped the dinosaurs out and allowed mammals and ultimately humans to take over the world. Who else but God could have invented it.
the one tht Nobel invented
If not for antibiotics then there would be only 1.8 billion people on the planet instead of 7.1 billion.
Without antibiotics people would still be living to 35-40. Now we can live to 85.
