COMMENTS:
Humor is the characteristic that makes a thing or situation laughable or amusing. That characteristic varies with the individual.
Yes, but define the 'characteristic',this is is where we enter the realm of the ineffable.
Who gives a flying f**K, just laugh!!!!
the ability to laugh at the misgivings of others ( midgets make everyone laugh)
It usually involves tying 2 or more things or ideas together in such a way that when presented to others is either ridiculous or genious, or very, very naughty.
I believe it is one of the highest forms of human communication. Something that provokes a completely genuine response such as laughing cuts through the static and opens up a clear channel. I mean, can you think of anything more sincere than laughter - other than tears?
...I think this is one of the reasons that comedy is more subjective than drama.
humor, humour --(Middle Ages) one of the four fluids in the body whose balance was believed to determine your emotional and physical state; "the humors are blood and phlegm and yellow and black bile"
Can someone's humour be rated?
Two veins of humour: Incongruity (the unexpected twist) and superiority (low, ethic humor). What you find funny probably defines you better than any other one dimension of human experience.
In my experience any joke or situation involving a gnome and a garden hose is funny. like this: "Did you hear the one about the gnome and the hose?" audience: "ha, ha, ha" You see, it works every time. Irish people and booze also seem to have the same effect. And minorities and the police. And gay people and cucumbers. And Arabs and camels. And positrons and electrons. And such.
