choices : religion : YOUR OPINION OF HELL?

Here are the choices:

First: Some will go to Hell, and all those that do will stay there forever.

Second: Some will go there, and some of those will get out after a period of punishment and purification.

Third: Some will go there, but all will eventually get out.

Fourth: Hell does not exist.

Fifth: All will go to Hell; it's simply the state of the dead.

In Comments, you can state what sends people to Hell: refusal to believe in and worship God, committing serious sins and not repenting before death, predestination, etc. Also for those who escape hell (if applicable), you can say if they enter Paradise or Heaven, or are reincarnated.

Hell is defined as "the absence of God". Therefore simply, if a person chooses to live their life now without God, then God will also be absent in their afterlife. It's not about punishment or penance, it's about preference.

Nonexistent--a dismal fairy tale invented by ancient Persian priests and elaborated upon by Jewish rabbis and Christian priests and Muslim imams and ayatollahs over long centuries. It is, however, very useful to slap the straying faithful back in line as an "ad terrorem" argument--sort of the theological equivalent of Freddy Kreuger or that nasty female ghost from "The Grudge."
