Pro-Choice -- It's alive but hasn't fully developed a consciousness. I could never get one, but I would not deny others the choice.
Up to the women and depedning what the situation is. I think people who can't afford children or can handel the reasponsibility should get an abortion. Or if your some pregnant teenager why ruin your life over it? Unless you can support it then have a baby but if you can't dont bring it into a world of poverty.
I strongly disagree with Guest_e533. From the moment of conception, this being is very much alive, however microscopic. The thought of abortion horrifies me personally, but it is STILL up to the woman to decide whether or not she wants to host this new life.
The choice should most definently be left up to the woman. Suppose they can't provide a good life for the child. Its not right to make the child wish that he/she was never born. As for the alive/non-alive. I'm somewhere in the middle. I think before 5 months, the child is not considered to be alive at all that it really can't feel pain or really any discomfort. Its around 6-9 months that they become more developed.
I'm not sure about when consciousness or sensation might become fully developed or measurable by manmade instruments, but I'm almost certain they have microscopic and infinitesimal versions of both, even as tiny embryos.
Abortion should be legal to some limit. Example. If an 11 year old gets raped and the doctor says that they will both die at birth then yes legalize it.
It is no more alive than an unhatched egg. I suppose if I had to pick a particular point where life begins, it would be at the point that the fetus could survive outside of it's mother's womb, without medical aid - which in most cases would be before the actual birth. Of course, it's really none of MY business.
not enough option I am not pro-choice or pro life. What about the other options? by Anonymous on Sep 05, 2004 Such as?
Confused?
very confused
I would just like to say I am Pro-choice and I believe that the fetus is only truly alive when it can survive by itself with out the mother. This is about late 7 months to early 8 months. I believe myself though you can't judge someone unless you are willing to look at it from their veiw. If I ever had a baby inside of me that I was unsure whether to keep or not I would have to make the decision on whether to keep it or not early. Its a hard choice to make for any woman. Even thought I think its alive when It can survive by itself I still think that it has developed a consciousness way before that. So I would still feel like I was killing it. But then again I know in my heart I would feel like I killed it if it was only 3 days old.
Susie, Is it safe to call that an "UNDECIDED" vote? ;-)
" not enough option asshole " ~Guest_e73fd Spoken like an absolute genius. In any case, I tried to be all inclusive and allow for an undecided. If you have a choice that does not fit into one of the five categories above (which is difficult to believe), then by all means please take the space and share rather than simply lobbing meaningless insults that demonstrate an obviously frustrating inability to clearly convey an idea.
I have one criterion for whether it's OK to abort or not: is the fetus' nervous system developed enough that it can feel pain? The ability to feel pain is the foundation of sentience. Once that's in place, it's murder. But if the nervous system isn't that well developed, it's just a bundle of tissues and killing it is no more murder than excising a tumor is murder.
ZIG: embryos do not have awareness/sensation. The nervous system is not well developed enough to feel pain until it is 8 weeks old. Go to http://www.fetal-pain.com for more information.
Guest_75803 YOU SAID: not enough options idiot Abortion should be up to the doctor Okay... who is the idiot? The question is-- where do YOU stand on the question. It is not "where does your doctor stand?"
I am pro-choice,it is up to the woman and the doctor, not to mention what if a woman is raped and gets pregnant??I know for a fact I would not want the slimebag's baby!! PS has anyone heard of using a condom?? (or other means of birth control?)
my brother is a doctor and he shows me some cat scans of pregnant women with 2-5 month old fetuses and they shocked them with a very small amount of electricity and the baby was squirming all over the screen in obvious pain. these are human beings for christ sake. how can you be so sick and twisted to think that it's okay to take another person and throw them into a trashcan and leave them to die. not having money or not being responsible are poor excuses.put them up for adoption if you don't want it let that person decide whether they want to die or not. you don't have any right whatsoever to kill somebody else for your own personal gain. you pro-choices are all gullable, brainless, heartless and merciless sons of b***hs. i'm disgusted with all of you pro-choice walking pile of filth, poor excuses for human beings. so what if it can't breath on it's own. there are many people who live on feeding tubes and respirators and i think they're more human than you sick little b*st*rds.
I agree but without all the name calling :)
why don't you simply stop having sex with fifty guys and you wouldn't see 10% of the number of unwanted and underaged pregnancies. you went like the little whore that you are and got pregnant cause you're irresponsible and want to put the responsibility on the baby make it die for your wrong doing. take it like a man.....err adult and own up to your responsibility istead of trying to throw it away and make an escape like the little coward you are. if you got raped put it up for adoption if you don't want it. the baby didn't do anything to you. the rapist didn't even kill you. so tell me why the child has to be punished.
I'm not too fond of abortion, but it's still better than forcing someone to live.
