Traditionally religion was an artificial construct to legitimise and enforce specific philosophies. The churches (mosques, synagogues etc.) exercised control of the populations, controlling access to information and ideas. They monopolised 'morality' (correctness), if you disagreed with the church you were a tool of Satan. (politicians use/d the same trick 'if you disagree with us you're a communist or un-American') Contradictory viewpoints or opinions were not tolerated, free thinkers were persecuted. Printing presses were destroyed, information was censored and it was even forbidden to read or translate the bible. However, gradually and very slowly, over several generations the churches lost their control over the people.

Is this control being replaced? Is 'Political Correctness' the new official state philosophy/religion? Are the PC thought police the new Inquisition?

Who are the new 'priests' and the new 'witches'?

Depends upon degree, I'd say. Societies need some kinds of rules and "social lubricants" in order to function, I would assert, and some degree of empathy for others helps this happen.

The rules our sociecty need to follow our the two major documents that founded this nation. One the United States Constitution. Second the Bible. These are the rules Americans should live by. Political correctness is for the weak but moral correctness makes one strong.

You can have strong morals without the Bible. Although my life may seem to be abiding by the laws of the Bible, the bible is not my governor and refuse to let a book of fiction be my set of laws.

I was pointing out that those are the foundation of the American culture. Other documents sure, you need all those books you read while becoming educated and hopefully some outside of the educational field either for more information or for pleasure. But those documents certainly are what the american culture is based upon. There is no doubt about that.

The Golden rule is a pretty good rule and if everyone "tried" to follow it our society would be better than it is now. The Ten Commandments are also good rules to live by in a civilized country. The overwhelming majority of lessons taught in the Bible are good for society.

Political Correctness is the ruling elite's Orwellian thought control tyranny. Period.
