The Bush administration wants to make it illegal for Americans to buy cheaper medications from abroad because they are "dangerous and unregulated". I'd like to ask our users from Canada, Mexico, England, etc., if they feel that they are getting inferior medications from their countries? Or is this just another ploy on the part of the Bush administration to pad the wallets of U.S. pharmaceutical companies?

They aren't; it's just another lie.
Drugs purchased in the U.S. are the greatest, and worth the enormous prices.
Know where I can get Vicodin w/out a prescription
or maybe just some Valium

must be lies because I'm not dead neither is anyone else in my family, all my kids have only had maybe 6 perscription combined all their life, even though healhcare is covered as is their persciptions, we rarely get sick enough to take meds, when I was a kid they would give you meds for everything.

Since many of the drugs manufactured overseas are then imported into the U.S. for sale here, it is obvious that this is a bogus issue. Also, many counterfeit drugs have turned up in U.S. distribution centers, so buying drugs in the U.S. doesn't guarantee the safety of the drugs. When five or six state's Governors are defying U.S. laws to get cheaper drugs for their citizens you know something is seriously out of balance with our system. People are desparate for relief from the price gouging of the drug companies. The drug companies have almost one lobbyist per Congressman on Capitol Hill. They write the legislation they want and see that it gets passed by the Republicans, complete with drug industry provisions, for example, that explicitly prevent the government from negotiating lower prices for Medicare programs. Walmart can use its size to get large discounts, but not the government. Gee, what a tough break for the U.S. taxpayer and senior citizens, that basic business practices can't be employed on their behalf because it might cut into the profits of the most profitable industry in the world! What a shame to think the drud companys would be so impaired they might not have enough money to advertise erectile dysfunction pills every night of the week on all three network news programs. For Christ's sake...is there anyone on the planet that hasn't heard of Viagra! Are they afraid we might forget about its existence if maybe it was only advertised once a week?

It's all about money IMO. The same reson that the FDA wont bother to investigate herbal treatments. Think of how many millions of dollars a year drug companies would lose if people used herbal alternatives. Healcare has become so much of a profit industry today that it's ridiculous.

True Anon. Doctors too in some aspects. You can walk into most any doctors office here and the walls are littered with more posters than a teenager's bedroom. Not promoting Spears, Jackson, or the latest rock band.. but Paxil, Prozac, and Viagra. When I have to go to a doctor and have my choice, I pick a European or Asian one. I've found from experience that they are not as quick to jump on the prescription bandwagon, they'll look at alternative treatments or cures before they whip out the prescription pad. At least the one's I've been to do.
