WE all can look back at different low points in our life but you have to remember to forget about those things and look at what you do have. A supportive family, loving child, intelligent and witty mind and you're young enough to turn your life around and make it what you want. STOP LOOKING BACK.. there are no answers in the past. :)

KS - I understand how you feel. You are going through a bad stage; you may be suffering from burn-out. Lots of things have contributed to your present state of mind. Try to keep the faith.

Ha! Been there, my friend. Done that.
Life has rudely bodyslammed you down to the concrete, yes. But nothing is over until you die or until you acknowledge that it is over.
Once you get your second wind, I suspect you'll be *just* pissy enough not to give them the satisfaction. .;)
But ... one doesn't get their second wind immediately. Rest. Bleed. Grieve. When you can regain your feet, there will be plenty of time to rejoin the battle.
But not just yet.

Thank you all for your kind comments. A couple of specific responses:
to Heretic: it was never about being rich and famous. I preferred to stay in the background in bands. Comfortably-off and having the feeling that I'd fulfilled some of my potential were important to me, though.
To Cathexis: were it only a second wind I needed to find, I'm sure I'd manage. But I've had so many bodyslams to the concrete now, it's hard to tell where I end and the concrete begins.
I have had that experience, as well. As you already know, there are no good answers. Especially while you're still getting slammed.
All you can do, short-term, is wait until your eyes can refocus.
