Um, I think Streisand is a singer; at least, I've never seen her do a stand-up routine. And most of those names are men. As for Jewish comedians, they are some of the world's best - e.g. Woody Allen, Robert Klein, Jack Benny. IMO, Curb Your Enthusiasm is the funniest show on TV.

Grapost, I disagree with your ballot choice. Some of the funniest jokers are female. They observe REAL life, as opposed to fantasy. ;)
I gotta agree with Grapost. Female comediens almost always use "men and the toilet seat" jokes or their Menstrual cycle as their base material.
Okay, I like Ellen though.
Yeah, me too - she's great.
I dislike angry comedy - women railing against men or men railing against women. The "all men are pigs" type of thing is annoying, as is the "gold-digging female" schtick. Funny the first time, but they've been done to death.

Yes, I get bored with all the trite stuff, but there are some good English comediennes, such as Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. And that wonderful Korean American woman who never fails to crack me up, although her name escapes me right now. :)
