Selling is legal, Sex is legal.
So why is it illegal to sell sex?

Why should it be illegal to sell something that's legal to give away.

It's the Man's law
The law wants them to give it away for free
They make too much money and don't pay tax

The popular argument goes something like this: prostitution involves the demeaning of a person (the prostitute) for the pleasure of another. What's the problem with this argument? It is legal to do this in many other fields (boxing, football, survivor games, et al).

Here's a possibility: Maybe the "johns" feel the illegality of the act adds to the excitement?

Or...well this is nonsense. Men who pass laws have wives who pressure them to outlaw prostitution. Now that sounds possibly right.

The above are tepid arguments, and the real answer is that, like most laws that attempt to legislate morality, it just doesn't work.
