Like a lot of people I like assult rifles. None of the WW1 pieces but the heavy M60s and M16s or the AK-47s. Not for use but I think its real cool.

What do you find "cool" about killing tools, One Dollar? Whenever I have picked up a real gun I felt physically sick. Don't you think that it is unhealthy to think that guns are "cool"?

Scoff if you wish, x__, but what would *you* do if a gang of deer armed with shivs busted down your front door, huh?!? How would you protect yourself and your loved ones if you had all of those irrational Liberals ban assault weapons? by lowerclassbrats on Thu Sep 09, 04 1:55pm [+]

Why do some people want fast looking cars? Or nice clothes? They just have that particular taste.

These evil scary military style weapons are actually, based on the amount of crimes they're used in, far less dangerous than small revolvers. They're too big, too expensive, and too easily identified to be used for crimes. Instead they're collected by law abiding gun enthusiasts who enjoy shooting them or simply showing them off and are not dangerous to anyone. Case in point, the assualt weapon ban has had no impact on gun related crime since it's creation.

It would be a hoot to see someone try to take a school hostage with a fancy car or with thier designer clothes tehe!!

Far more people are killed by cars each year than by guns, clearly cars should be banned. You know that you have a much higher chance of being killed by your doctor than you do by a gun? Perhaps they should be banned too, along with salty foods and lack of exercise.

And it really isn't your place to question the motives of these people. If they aren't using their guns illegally why should the government harass them?

by x__ on Fri Sep 10, 04 3:37pm [+]

Alright Cretin, I see what you mean. People enjoy Mafia movies, like Herzog said fast cars, and all the things that are dangerous. You may think that it makes you feel sick but do you feel sick when you step into a car or bus. Think about it. Lets say there are 50 people in the street. Which do you think can kill them easier, an automatic AK-47 (30 rounds) or a 350 horsepower bus. It's all about how you use it. I don't like guns because it's "cool to kill" but because they are a huge advance in technology and target sports.

Collectors don't need functional assault weapons.

But the ones that really like guns and are collectors want the real thing. They don't want some toy or replica. It's like being a car collector and buying cars that cant operate. What herzog said is right, majority of crimes happen with smaller arms such as revolvers and hand guns. For anyone who says that guns are evil then I hope you know that many people are also killed with knvies, maybe they should be illegal as well.
by One_Dollar on Fri Sep 10, 04 4:23pm [+]

People should know that everything is a weapon. You can take away assult rifles but at that point if the criminal is that desperate he'll just get a hunting gun which can also kill. I hope you all know that John Allen Muhammed (DC sniper) used a hunting rifle on his victims. A .22 I think.
by One_Dollar on Fri Sep 10, 04 4:27pm [+]

It's so comforting to know that the crazier and more dangerous a man is the more likely he is to have a closet full of guns :p
One of Muhammed's shootings was four miles from my house, at MY Home Depot. I bet Muhammed had a small pee pee and his mother didn't love him, that's the kinda guy who needs to use a gun on ladies at the tool store.

by xxxxxxxx on Mon Sep 13, 04 12:57am [+]

Fair enough, One Dollar, but whenever I get on a bus I never think how many people I can kill with it. Enjoy your target sports.

Speaking of advances in technology. Have you heard of Nicola Tesla?
by cretin_slap on Mon Sep 13, 04 4:20am [+]

Cathexis... you say collectors don't need functional assault weapons. Of course they don't need them, that's why it's a collection! It is a hobby that they enjoy, a luxury afforded those who live in the USA. But if you are going to collect fast-looking cars, they should probably just be non-functional replicas, huh? What car collector needs their cars to be drivable? In fact, most of them will never drive the cars they collect. Some gun owners, to that point, don't shoot with their collected guns either. But for some reason, everyone will be safer if a gun collector doesn't own working models that he can kill himself or other people with. What defines a "military style" weapon? And why couldn't you eat any prey killed with one? These weapons are not bullet hoses, like you may think. Take one out someday and find out for yourself. Repeating guns that fire as many rounds as are attached to the weapon in as little time as possible are called FULLY AUTOMATIC and are not SEMI AUTOMATIC like the guns in question.

by x__ on Fri Oct 01, 04 1:53am [+]

I'm not a creep... I'm a voter, an upstanding citizen, a Navy veteran, and yes, I happen to own guns. But you say military style. What do you mean by that? If you mean fully auto guns, well, I hate to inform you against the rhetoric you were led to believe, but fully automatic firearms were, are, and will continue to be available only to specially qualified people. That wouldn't include me, since I live in California. Now... what again was it that made me so creepy? Oh, right. My large set of kitchen knives which were obviously ONLY designed to kill people.

I haven't killed anyone with them... yet.
by xxxxxxxx on Sun Oct 03, 04 11:11pm [+]

I'm wondering where you are getting your information that "the crazier and more dangerous a man is the more likely he is to have a closet full of guns." Obviously you have no working knowledge of the gun-purchasing process. There is a mandatory waiting period and background check to determine if you have a history of domestic violence and such. No history = no restrictions. History of violence = banned from owning guns. Period. If you still don't feel safe, maybe you should become a cop and investigate all those "evil, small-peepee men" that want to own firearms for whatever reason.

Besides, I only use my guns to kill stupid, mangy stray cats. Where's the harm in that? Hey x__ nice cats...

My, my, isn't dingledung obsessed with penis size! His posts contain an average of one reference to it per sentence. That may be a record - I'm checking with the Guiness people now. And that's not even mentioning his near-constant droning on about, ah, related topics such as testicle size. Now, what kind of man is so obsessed with male genitalia as is dingleberry[and never was there a more descriptive internet name!} I repeat, what group of men are hung up on dick size? THAT group! Think maybe Dingleberry "dresses with a certain flair"? Well, Ding, old boy don't worry, be happy. Live and let live, I say. Don't ask, don't tell, as the Army says. But now I'm starting to see the real reason why Dingleberry has never been able to stay married for very long, at least until his current marriage to Bruce
For the record, Dingleberry: I own an AK and your wife didn't have any complaints about my dick size. In fact, that's why she may have felt a little "loose" in the last months of your marriage!

Now everyone notice: Dingleberry is NEVER going to put up a post denying any of this! Wonder why?

How do we go from measuring cats lives to threats against me (and more to the point, my innocent family)? Do you have any cats you are sick of? Nowhere in this post did I ever claim to masturbate over my guns. I own guns because of incomprehensible assholes who would wish me ill will when I am doing the world a favor by offing all these stupid clawing kitties. I'd shoot you with one, if it were to become available to me, however as you have been so eager to ignore, I cannot buy one even though (surprise!) the ban on "assault weapons" has been lifted. Now why do you suppose I haven't already blown your miserable little brains out with an M16? How about because I can't own one, fucker. If you are going to keep ignoring what the law says about these guns, do everyone a favor and don't post, because you're starting to sound pretty stupid. Oh, and get off the ad hominem already and try and attack the subject for once, huh?
by xxxxxxxx on Mon Oct 11, 04 12:27am [+]

"I mean what the hell? It's not like you can eat any animal that's been shot with those things. " -- x__

And I suppose you have a lot of experience eating animals (or trying to) that have been shot with one of "those things."

You have demonstrated an obvious lack of understanding for what truly defines an assault weapon under US law, and have therefore not even approached what would be a considerable argument for their ban.

What makes a "hobbiests" a sicko anyways? Is it that they can afford fine weapons while you are left defending your home and hearth with miniscule dick in hand? (This is assuming, of course, that you have one.) I suppose you'll be the same type of person to tell me gay marriage should be allowed? To me, that is sick, but you won't hear me arguing to get it banned. Yet you'll sit there and say "sicko hobbiests" are people who privately enjoy their hobby while not bothering you. I have presented a much more sound argument in favor of allowing semi-automatic "assault weapons" than you. It sucks losing an argument, doesn't it? But I suppose you can only ever lose an argument when you yourself accept defeat, so this argument looks like it will never be won, doesn't it?
by xxxxxxxx on Mon Oct 11, 04 12:51am [+]

nope, I'm proud to say I don't have "a dick" (sic ;), maybe that's why I don't understand your "fine weapons", the more you argue for how you need them the more pitiful you clearly are. Don't worry honey, I'm not gonna touch your "fine weapons", I wouldn't have commented if I knew you'd get this excited.
by x__ on Mon Oct 11, 04 4:52pm [+]

I know you'll want to respond with some really long, heartfelt paragraphs about how safe you are handling your lovely shiney weapon, but you might as well save it, I've understood your point already, bang bang bang bang.
by x__ on Mon Oct 11, 04 4:59pm [+]

Doof's hobby is 'playing soldiers' (so long as the enemy is nothing more than an unarmed cat).

And that's all there is to it... it's sad, really. I blame the parents.

by xxxxxxxx on Tue Oct 12, 04 7:21pm [+]

You should look up in English what "dung" means. Bet you can't figure that one out. What does this have to do with the ballot again?

I recognize, x__, that you will never be comfortable with guns in a "civilized" society. You don't have to be. And you know something? There really are a lot of assholes out there with guns. I'm sorry if you see me that way. I wish I could change your mind about a few of us gun owners. I've taken every effort to be a responsible gun owner (and no, I've never actually shot any cats with my guns, but obviously truth has no meaning on this site--inflammatory remarks are usually easier and sometimes more fun). But you know something else? I will continue to buy and own guns, and I will continue to introduce people to the fun sport of shooting. Sorry if that makes you feel uncomfortable. I promise I won't shoot anyone unless in self defense, okay? And I apologize for making this comment long-winded, as I now know that you appreciate shorter comments.

BTW DingleDick-- My hobby for four years was "playing soldier," a job that lets wankers like you speak freely. Its funny how few people had bad things to say about the military immediately following 9/11. I was in the Arabian Gulf, on the way out on September 12 (a day ahead) when we were re-tasked. You didn't have much bad to say on October 7 and 8, when you watched news footage of my ship firing tomahawks at Afghanistan with overwhelming support from US citizens. You're welcome.

The definition of an assault rifle is at issue. It depends on what state you're in. Laws differ state by state. As currently defined they're banned in MA but you can get a regular hunting rifle, shot gun or handgun (not automatic) without too much trouble. Airguns, pellet guns, paintball, airsoft are legal, you just can't fire them in public i.e. at your neighbors cat.
