I'd choose the South of France because I used to speak the language fluently and I could easily pick it up again. It has beautiful scenery and rich culture - and they respect older people in France :-)

Cool. I went to Euro Disney in France. Things were so exspensive! I liked it for the most part though. I'm not sure if Euro Disney is South or not.
I would like to live in the south of france in the summer months, and somewhere in the mountains in winter for skiing, and the rest of the time i'd spend in the countryside in England
Things are cheap and the beauty of the country is unmatched.

In Florida, unless New Zealand drastically reduces its taxes.
"I'd choose the South of France because I used to speak the language fluently and I could easily pick it up again." -- mojo You do know it's Occitan and not French, right? It's a good bit different than the French they speak in Paris, Quebec or Louisiana.
I've heard it's kind of like Catalan.
LudwigVan - I was there for a month and never had a problem communicating with the local people. It's just French with a bit of an accent. Like a southern drawl or a western twang.

England is really nice, it would be near perfect if the weather wasn't so bad. The south of France is great, great beaches and weather half the year round, short drive up to the Alps for skiing. 90 minutes flight from Nice to London for. Mostly the French are alright when you speak the language and are prepared to argue with them.
Pacific Northwest--blue zone, beautiful scenery and lots of places for a variety of outdoor things to do, they have mountains and the ocean, great parks and many of the cities have public transportation. also tho it rains a lot the temp is moderate all year round.
