Yeah, right about at 35, senility start to kick in. Me forgot what me gonnna say now.
Also, so much time spent in drudgery ... cranking out work. That's great ... for my employer. But it does zip for my learning or skill acquisition.
Well, I'm not close to 35, but I felt I should mention something I've noticed. My dad is 73, and he's extraordinarily youthful; and I'm not just saying that because he's my dad. You'd think he was 20 years younger if you met him. He's still very sharp, vs. other people in their 70's I've met who really seem to have declined, physically AND mentally - they're just not vigorous. I should mention that he's a practicing psychiatrist who loves his job; and the particulars of that job require constant, complex thought, which no doubt helps. I'm sure a lot of this has to do with nature, but there's nothing we can do about that now. The best we can do is to continue to nurture our minds, use them, and stretch them out in every different direction. It's like adding seeds to the soil. The human brain is an amazing thing, and it wasn't designed for many of the trappings ($$$) of modern life. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get plastered.
I seem to be getting sharper at the ripe old age of 40. But then, maybe it's just more experience at 'the game' we call life. Hmmmm..... I'm definitely way more focused than when I was 20. Talk about a scatter-brain--sheesh! :)
tee hee! i just knew someone would say something about the "are your brain slowing down?" remark but it still caught me by surprise...i guess my brain are slowing down too. but hey a tip (i'm 48 by the way) do puzzles and revisit things you used to do even if you didn't like them before. i've found that to my surprise i find 'new' things to like. it can help you renew and reset a little.
