I would propose combining some of your excellent options: caning, confiscation of all property, and life imprisonment.

I think they should put fraud on a $ scale, anything over 100K 25 years in jail and loss of all property(up to the amount owed to investors (if there is any left)

They should be forced to pay for as much of the damage as they can afford even if it means take everything they own. Then they should be forced into work camps.
Oh yeah, thumbs up to China on that one.
This question is interesting. I'm going to venture a guess that the anti-death penalty crowd will for some reason vote yes on this one.
lcb: And the pro-death penalty camp will be against. ;-)
One difference, I suspect, is that after the initial rush of righteous indignation, I for one, would say ... hmmm, lcb makes a good point ... that *would* be inconsistent. Better settle for caning, confiscation, and life imprisonment. ;-)
Damn, your right. arrrrgh
Ooooh! Can I get Kenneth Lay's Bentley?
Based on the decisions rendered by the American justice system I can only conclude that corporate crime is encouraged. In other words, *If you're not cheating, you're not trying. The only crime is getting caught.* Pretty funny considering the ramifications of corporate crime are far greater than violent crimes against persons. I suspect we dismiss corporate crime mainly because it's hard to personally feel the pain. When it comes to crimes of violence we seem much more able to put ourselves in the victim's place. That's just speculation. Anyway, the criminal justice system believes that many corporate criminals have something to offer society. Their crime is one of using their intelligence in the wrong direction. Compare that to a meth addict that just torched his wife because he thought she was Satan. I wouldn't be too upset if after the corporate criminals stay in a federal prision he or she decided to move to my neighborhood. On the other hand, I wouldn't feel too comfortable with Mr. wife torching meth-head living next to me. Hell, he probably needs executing.
