SHOULD FAITH ALTER THE BALLOT?

[+] serious ballot by Truthseeker013
created Sat Sep 18, 04

I just finished reading an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about a letter written by the head of the Atlanta Archdiocese, Archbishop John Donoghue, on the archdiocese's website, in which he recommends that all Catholics should vote against any candidate who favors abortion rights, even if that candidate's views on other matters are favorable. No doubt, this is a direct reference to John Kerry in the upcoming election. I can understand this in reference to being Catholic, as I was one in good standing for the first nineteen years of my life. Many Catholics here in Atlanta are greatly confused by this stand, and several have even gone so far as to say that they WON'T VOTE. I see this as being unfair, because there are a great many other issues that, in my eyes, outweigh the abortion issue. (I won't venture into my views on that subject until I find the proper poll.) We as a nation are confronted with the dangers of keeping a President who will do little or NOTHING about poverty, unemployment and the ongoing issues of war and terrorism.

So I ask one and all- does the Most Reverend Archbishop have the right to impose the doctrines of faith as a means to alter the vote?

Yes
No

danny mack, I did not bother to read all that was written here, but I think for someone who might think an abortion is murder and stealing an election is a big difference, that example you gave sucked.
