Hans Blix, asked for time to find the WMDs but was refused. Bush cannot used the 'violation of UN resolutions' defence, or why have we not invaded Israel, who have a whole list of them. If you choose to follow a path, that says you are following UN resolutions, then you either give the UN the authority to act on all resolutions or you dont. Bush and the current US administration have nothing but contempt for the institution. The war was inevitable, and was unavoidable as soon as the hawks in Washington made it clear that they wanted it.
Where's those pipelines? Get on the ball Halliburton. You're not just pocketing all that money, are you? I'm paying $1.85-a-gallon. What's the holdup?

Debating speculation !!!
"Yes, this is why so many countries opposed the war." That is totally false. The US, British, and many other modern intelligance believed that Saddam had WMDs. That was never the argument to opposing the war.
Well... The UN seems to think so, and the fact that nothing CLOSE to WMDs have been found on the ground over there (unless I missed something in the news!). But we'll never know, because Mister Bush BULLIED the UN into giving him the wherewithall to go in, and they're starting to regret it.
Thats their 'governments', I can tell you for fact that a vast majority of the British PEOPLE are opposed to the war.
the war was inevitable. the consequences of inaction would have been enormous. most likely an end to western civilization and a downward spiral ending in cannibalism on a global scale..imagine the contents of the Savannah River plants' core gently wafting down to settle out alllll up and down the atlantic seaboard and then riding the winds to as far away as U.K. Me thinks the ballots author lives squarely within that plume..Chernobyl would appear to have been a bit of light humor in comparison.. hmmm Morlocks and Eloi are about to become a reality... I say, lets give Saddam another chance..He's just another misdirected Despot and doesn't really bear the west any ill-will...see you all in hell..hahaha
Usual yankee drivel. Next!
Well, saddam did not obey UN resolutions. But if you're saying he didn't have massive quantities of wmds, probably not. And yes, we could have avoided this war. Remember we were only getting concessions when we had 100,000+ troops surrounding iraq. We couldn't have kept them their forever, either they had to go in or go home. And as soon as we pulled our army out of the middle east the inspectors would be kicked out again and the programs would be unburied. It's better not to take that risk. We did with north korea, and look how that turned out.
UN resolutions mean nothing. They put 70+ resolutions against Israel and that doesn't and will never be accepted as a good reason for war against them. You might be able to get away with the WMD story but the inspectors have said that Iraq has allowed them to look through any hole in the ground for WMDs. Should've waited for the inspectors to finish.
The real Reasons for the war is the goal of preventing further OPEC momentum towards the euro as an oil transaction currency standard, and to secure control of Iraq's oil before the onset of Peak Oil In 1990, the then oil man, Dick Cheney, wrote " Whoever controls the flow of Persian Gulf oil has a stranglehold not only on our economy but also on the other countries of the world as well." and so the US with Kuwait instigated war crimes and economic sabotage against Iraq Over the past 15 years, the overall US deficit with the rest of the world has risen to $2,700bn - an abuse of its privileged currency position. Although about 80% of foreign exchange and half of world trade is in dollars, the euro provides a realistic alternative. Euro countries also have a bigger share of world trade, and of trade with Opec countries, than the US. In 1999, Iran mooted pricing its oil in euros, and in late 2000 Saddam made the switch for Iraqi oil. In early 2002 Bush placed Iran and Iraq in the axis of evil. If the other Opec countries had followed Saddam's move to euros, the consequences for Bush could have been huge. Worldwide switches out of the dollar, on top of the already huge deficit, would have led to a plummeting dollar, a runaway from US markets and dramatic upheavals in the US.
In answer to the other part. yes.Saddam did not disobey any UN resolutions. The other overriding issue is as follows.Hypothetically If Russia attacked the US and won after encouraging Mexico to violate International Laws and commit war crimes against the US and then covering it up and blaming the US for its relataliation ,immediately taking over the oil fields, then sanctioning Texas as a no-fly zone , then secretly aiding Cuba to bomb the piss outta Texans while continuing airstrikes themselves. Whaddya think the yanks are gonna say(?)
Just lliiiiike U go - slaaaa- V - aaaaaaaah I need a drink
{{The families of September 11 victims certainly don't appreciate Bush's duplicity and callous opportunism, either. " We've been fighting for nearly 21 months -- fighting the administration, the White House, " Monica Gabrielle, whose husband Richard was killed in the World Trade Center, told Salon. " As soon as we started looking for answers we were blocked, put off and ignored at every stop of the way. " " The Administration, and most politicians, really don't want to get to the bottom of it, (9/11) because they're all implicated in some way, in too many different areas, for too many years, " former New York City cop told Bruce DeCell the Nation. But Newsweek explained the Bush strategy most succinctly: " Even as White House political aides plot a 2004 campaign plan designed to capitalize on the emotions and issues raised by the September 11 terror attacks, " Michael Isikoff and Mark Hosenball wrote, " administration officials are waging a behind-the-scenes battle to restrict public disclosure of key events relating to the attacks.
