EVOLUTION OF THE HUMAN MIND

Do you ever consider that every thought you have might be genetically passed on to your children and therefore help shape the evolution of the human mind?
Consider that in addition to the impact you have on the thoughts of others, and therefore their offspring...

Your thoughts on that please... unless you'd rather not go there due to the fact that they might have a negative impact on humanity's thought processes...

Yes, I know of this theory...
...huh?
Trojan Sharks are great!
Isn't that Lamarckian biology?
My Poor Kids!!!

I've heard of theories where our adaptations (genes we use a lot because of a specific environment) are more likely to be passed on to our children. My kids should be mathematicians who can swim very fast.

My kids should be mathematical musicians who aren't particularly good at swimming. All the more need for TROJAN SHARKS.

I agree the world needs more trojan sharks

Isn't this a variation of Lamarckian biology, where it was theorized that somatic phenotypes could be passed down to subsequent generations? (For example: Cutting off a mouse's tail would result in tailless mice.)

I'm not sure I have heard of any evidence for experiential changes making their way into germ lines.

???

I'm not an expert on the subject. I thought I could either look it up on-line... or take the easy way out and make a ballot about it. I know there are theories about memories being passed down to explain phenomena such as de ja vu.

I have some very strange thoughts sometimes... and so did my Dad... Hhmmm...
by HBinVegas on Wed Sep 29, 04 6:52pm [+]

I heard that if you are a killer or alcoholic it becomes genetic. Evolution of the human mind does probably happen that way.
by One_Dollar on Wed Sep 29, 04 11:58pm [+]

Wasn't that stuff disproved ages ago?
by cretin_slap on Tue Jan 11, 05 6:20am [+]

How can it have been disproved when we aren't even certain how the most of the human mind works?
