I'm watching Oprah right now, and there's a poor woman who was molested for 9 years by her father. He eventually ended up getting her pregnant with his child. The child is alive and grown but suffers from health problems. Yet the woman said she has forgiven her father for his crimes.
This is a horrible case and I'm surprised the woman was able to forgive him.
Would you be able to forgive someone who molested you?

Yes, probably.
No, definitely not.

I have no problem forgiving people who hurt me by mistake, but if they do it intentionally (it's hard to argue that 9 years of sexual abuse was all a big mix-up)? Hell no.

I think they figured out the appropriate theraputic response to abuse in the movie 'sleepers'.
