Yes they are. I grew up dirt poor and perhaps that explains my humble, yet somewhat twisted values.

I think that's definitely true for the people who have never known what it is like to be without. How could you appreciate material things when they are as common as the air you breathe?

I think it depends on the individual. I grew up dirt poor. Now I am grateful for everything I have, but it is vitally important to me to help others.

Yes. And thankful for much more. Thankful for things that people take for granted every day. Rich people are thankful for only money because money is all they have. Anything they have or own was most likely brought to them by money.
