WHAT IS THE SINGLE GREATEST CAUSE OF MISCOMMUNICATION OVER THE INTERNET?

It happens all the time in real life, but is magnified even further in online discussions. People end up talking *at each other, instead of talking *with each other. This happens for a variety of different reasons; but which one specifically do you think predominates?

Lack of emotional content
The freedom to write whatever you want without fear of retaliation
Dialogue with people you would *never meet in real life
Lack of true consideration about what someone has written
Artificial context in which the conversation is occurring
Lack of knowledge/understanding about the person on the other end
You make more of an impact if your words are aggressive, charged, or extreme
A concept does not necessarily have the same meaning for both people
Taking the subject too seriously, or not seriously enough
Inability to detect tone & inflection
Inferior modem
Can't see body language and facial expressions

COMMENTS:
lack of vocal expression combined with prejudice. i am an atheist, and when i say that, everyone reads what i say as forceful, loud, and angry. in reality, i speak calmly and in a quietish, matter-of-fact tone. whhen someone says something really stupid, i tend to say "idiot". people read it as "YOU'RE A FUCKING IDIOT!", when it's supposed to be read as "are you aware that you are an idiot? i just thought you should be informed".
