We're all a little biased, so it's probably safe to say that most people think opposite opinions are odd and/or misinformed.
I don't believe that, we just look at the world differently. But we are not enemies, we both want what we think is best for the country.
It would have been preferable if the giver of negative karma had disagreed with you verbally in comments. To rate a ballot as 'offensive' simply because of a clash of opinions stifles free discourse. If your ballot had been hate-filled, racist or sprinkled with personal attacks/profanities, then a bad rating may have been justified, but not otherwise.
I guess it all depends what people mean by mis informed. I think that it all depends on which side of the political spectrum you sit at. In the main, liberals (although I hate that label) tend to listen to all views and will research any points in order to refute an opnion where necessary. Conser vatives tend to believe what is spoon fed to them and are unwilling to question thier leaders and take things at face value. This is MY opinion and its most a general isation, but in my 38 years on this planet, rarely do people step out of their relative boxes.
This is how I see it: People who don't share my basic views are either ignorant, stupid, immoral or a combination of those three.
Sounds as though you are projecting THC :p
Seems to me "spoonfed" comment is only true about extremists on both sides of the aisle, steelhamster. For you to lump an entire political affiliation into that description seems misinformed, to me. I'm conservative, yet I don't believe what is "spoonfed" to me. I have disagreed with things that all politicians have done, liberal or conservative.
I feel a little differently about political labels, because where I'm from, the words "conservative" and "liberal" are the names of two of our political parties and their fiscal policies, so they are empty words that have no meaning outside of that context. So we've adopted "left" and "right" and "centrist" as the labels we use to identify our views. I'm like you, Steel. I've never pledged allegiance to any political party, Liberals are corrupt, Conservatives are ruthless, and Socialists are too pie-in-the-sky. In my province, anyway. Ultimately I end up voting NDP (socialist), because I find that I disagree with their political views the least. I just had three cups of coffee so forgive me if I appear to be typing for my own pleasure. Submitted with the utmost in integrity and thoughtfulness, with caffeine big time,
The question is, did the caffeine increse your typing speed?
I believe some have different vews because of their different life experiences, and some because of sheer arrogance. But, that's just my humble opinion.
I've never had any serious downratings for my views, but I suppose that someone is probably small and petty enough to do that. I don't do it. Can't. I think that GOLF is a mortal sin...
I don't think my typing speed got any better. It would be nice if the caffeine gave me the power to use more than two fingers, though.
