DEADLY BEAUTY

[+] serious ballot by Cherri

Everything has a price, but is anything worth dying over?
Look anywhere, in magazines, movies, TV shows, advertisements--chances are, you'll find an extremely tall and thin woman staring back at you; telling you with her eyes and showing you with her body that THIS is the picture of beauty.
The Media strongly influnces girls most at the ages of 13-20. At this time, girls are most pressured to look perfect. To look like how the girls do on TV and in magazines. They'll do anything to attain that "ideal" image. Even if it means starving themselves.
1 in 100 adolescent girls suffer from anorexia. About 10 percent of anorexics die of medical complications due to lack of food, or from suicide.

Question: Is there anything the media can do reduce the pressure put on teenage girls? Please leave a comment with what you think they should or could do.

Yes, there is something they could do
No, the media can't do anything about this

COMMENTS:
They can start putting normal everyday women - which is most of us - on the covers of their overrated mags. Don't forget, though, that the men in these magazines also look "perfect", though I don't know if boys feel the same pressure to look like these models.

Any thoughts, guys?

Did anyone know that the average adult female is a size 14. I honestly think most of those models need to eat at least once a week .

Anorexic women aren't hot anyway. Most of actresses that do it for me are from the 30s 40s and 50s, back when women looked actually looked feminine. Totally hot, sexy, and CURVES CURVES CURVES. Not fat, but at healthy weight. That's my ideal. I think I speak for a lot of men when I say this. Why are curves all of a sudden a bad thing? What idiot out there set that standard? The problem is the word has been ruined because it's used as a euphemism for "fat" even though there's a big difference. The media should revert to healthier realisic standards. More Marilyn Monroes, less Lara Flynn Boyles. How hard is that? No more starving, no more digital enhancing.
