I am not saying Kerry or Gore would have done better, but I think it is a bit much him saying he is the best man for the job

Landing on that aircraft carrier did it for me

"Landing on that aircraft carrier did it for me"

I've met a couple of other people who've said that. Why exactly did that "do it" for you? I'm not trying to start an argument; just curious.

I find it suggestive and a sign of bad taste

Landing on a carrier means nothing
compared to the soldiers who are patrolling IN Iraq, day in day out. To me it seemed he was trying to lead people to believe that there was no real distinction between him and the soldiers doing their job.

If he had landed in Bagdad, even if there had been the thightest security possible and the chances of anything happening practicaly nill, THAT I would have called a strong symbolic message

But landing a few hundred miles from the coast, somewhere in the Arabian Gulf and having the gall to step out like Tome Cruise and say the war is over
SAD

It became nothing more than a photo-opp
