COMMENTS:
I believe the analysts claim it was his religous beliefs, maybe true maybe not, it may just have been that Kerry didnt bring a lot to the table.

Any number of issues can be attributed to his win, but I believe the ones that could have lost it for him were guns (if Kerry were actually more pro-gun, less a fake pro-gun candidate) and the economy.

Switching leaders on our troops in Iraq may look bad to voters too (although I think they would be safer with Kerry).

is it any surprise that bush won on gay marriage? in fact, it's kerry's failure to capture the evangelical vote that has cost the democrats the election. he was shady on the moral issues.

the average american is a fat, white christian. all they care about is gay marriage and abortion. to hell with everything else. kerry should've attacked that issue furiously. instead, he danced around it. for God's sake, this has cost not only him, but us as well. because kerry was our only hope. now bush will be unchallenged.

the democratic party has failed us. they should've tried harder, but bush used fear and psychology to get his fucking votes.

I beleive it was moral and religious issues, then it was Terrorism, then Iraq and then the economy. The democrats were the exact reverse.

It amazes me how these religous nuts care more about gay people getting married than they do about thousands of innocent people getting killed. Something definately isn't right we these people. Do they watch the news? Look at Ohio for example, they have 250,000 job cuts in the last for years, and still they vote for Bush.

It is quite clear why there is a political seperation between the coastal regions and the centre of America. The middle of America is so far removed from the rest of the world, so set in it ways, so fearful, so manipulated by it watered down media. Whereas the coasts, are far more diverse, far more open to the rest of the world and they vote democrat. Doesn't that show something?

Having said that, I have attempted to understand why the average republican would vote for Bush. The opposition clearly wasn't tremendous, even though change is always good.

It's sad that religion has come to dominate Americas politics in the way it has. These people clearly have an irrational fear of any change whatsoever, they are so isolated and too religious for anybodys good.

I feel sorry for the rest of you.

Ignorance has won every election in the past 100 years. The same would've been true if Kerry won.

Kerry won the large population centers but even upstate New York went to Bush. The suburbs went to Bush and the suburbs usually have higher average IQs than the cities. Either way, they're all ignorant.

National Security.

I hear the 'Right' claiming it was 'Faith' and that Bush's sentiment that he could feel people praying for him blah blah blah...

But I think their opinion that Kerry was too far left is because they're so far right. The election was pretty close, so I think it was up to the middle-of-the-roaders, and overall Bush has a plan and people know what to expect from him. Kerry really didn't have a solid stance on anything and couldn't illustrate his plans to bring the troops home faster.

Moral issues and the complete inability of the left to connect with the middle/majority of Americans.

A columnist was at an editorial board when someone was asked if they knew gays. The majority of them raised their hands. Then the same person asked if they knew any religious conservatives and one person raised his/her hand.

There are about 40 percent of the people who identify as religious conservatives, and there are at most 12-15 percent who identify as homosexual.

It is simple demographics.

Additionally if the Democrats ridicule them they get mad. Surprised?

AFL-CIO President said today that he is going to address the issues of concern to religious conservatives. That will go a long way to helping the Democrats in 08.
