COMMENTS:
Depends on how old the kid is when he or she gets adopted. If a 6 year old saw his 2 dads kissing after meeting them 2 weeks ago, the kid might think it's a bit weird.
That's true, but I trust the couple would make it a point to remain low-key for a while in order for the child to adapt.
Get the child when it's a baby, and so he or she will grow up used to it and won't be so embarrased at times.
Right Dani but what if it grows up to kiss dudes in school like it's normal and then gets his ass kicked?
There are plenty of hetero couples out there who have no business even being allowed to have children under ANY set of circumstances.
*nods* that's for sure...
THAT'S IT, DINGLEBERRY... I will never ever adopt kids with you!

On a more serious side... Shouldn't people be referencing the multitudes of books written by adults, who were children, raised by gay parents? Or, just interject with their own dim-witted naive personal beliefs. The "Moral Majority" IE "Christian Fundamentalist" thrive on persecution, judgment and oppression, it's the oxygen of their faith... why should this topic be in different? Far be it, that they would ever embrace the idea of placing children into any available loving home, unless it meets their own personal beliefs or criteria. Christians obsess, relish and chastise illegitimate children... as BASTARDS, the Bibles words, not mine! These same individuals will fight a woman's right to choose then stone a child to death to keep it out of the hands of someone the personally find immoral... How immoral! They would also, most certainly, abort their own fetus if testing was available to detect a child's sexuality and it came out... OH MY GOD, positive for homosexuality. I have lost all faith in Christianity and believe it to be the filthy ass hole of the religious world!

Also, Dingleberry... kids get their ass's kicked on the playground everyday for being, too tall, short, small, big, smart, slow, white, black, or even being ginger haired you name it... kids are vicious and eventually everyones a victim, and they learn it from ignorant parents... well, not from a gay parent! Your comments on growing up to kiss dudes, is just stupid, and I hope you were kidding.

No, I wasn't kidding. Maybe I need more insight on the subject. Hell, maybe I'll read about it like you said. Or, maybe you shouldn't read so much into my comment like I'm some 14 year old with out a clue. Quit thinking people, especially me are out to get gay people because I'm Not..
Basher!

The American Psychological Association just came out in favor of gay marriage because the overwhelming majority of research on children of gay parents finds that they are not disadvantaged in ANY respect
I read an article in the Wall Street Journal back in the mid to late 80's. A study covered 25 gay couples, mostly lesbian, and 25 straight couples raising children for 25 years. The finding was that the children of gay couples were no more likely to be gay than that of the straight couples. Something they did discover though, was that the children of gay couples were 2 times more likely to attend college, had higher IQ's and were more financially successful, two to one. The success/IQ information was omitted from the results in the final publication because the study was for sexuality orientation only. The article went on to discuss an advertisement in Australia where Toyota ran an add with two gay men and a dalmatian. They did this because gay males had an average income of over $50,000 yearly, no children, creating expendable income. Lesbians were around $36,000, white American males had an average of $30,000. It went down from there based on gender and race.

Oops, sorry... I looked it up on the net. This is part of what I read in the WSJ... 1992 reported the American gay market was worth $514 billion, gay households annually earned $52,624 (41% above the national average) and lesbian households $42,755 (26% above national average).

I except gay people for who they are. Why can't this be enough? Why must gays have the cake and eat it too? To except the fact just isn't enough these days. We can't just except them. Nower days, we have to vote to let gay people get married. Gay people want to adopt and we have to except that too. Now we have gay people on television and bla bla bla. It's the same as black people having an entire month dedicated to black history, but it's not enough. They want more. I said I except homosexuality as being somewhat normal. Yes, somewhat. I won't scream out the window if I see 2 guys holding hands. I'd even have a gay friend. Wether or not I think gay parents should be aloud to adopt or marry is my business. What more do these people want? Any person who doesn't agree with homosexuality shouldn't be looked at like an asshole or someone who's obtuse. I don't blame them.
What gay people do is their business. What I believe about gay people is mine.
Yes, as long as you don't inflict your asinine beliefs on our lives. Most Gay people I know don't give at rats ass about marriage... that would be a handful of activist. That, and it's used as a campaign tool in elections and public persuasion to spread fear of immorality. We would like civil unions granting our legal/financial rights to partners benefits/inheritances. What the fuck, don't you believe we deserve it... It is ours money, not some bigoted, toothless shirttail or Christian relative who swoops in because they actually have legal and medical power, not the same sex partner of umpteen years. We make up between 7 - 10% of the population, depending on what statistics you follow, yet, we are accountable for over 20% of the frigging tax revenue. We pay taxes for public education, as well as many other hetro catered government programs, but have no benefit. Gay TV shows are developed by capitalizing networks, not our community... I rarely watch any of it, nor do my friends, it caters to hetros and shock value. When the President of the US tries to amend the constitution to suppress our lives, your going to see a lot of resistance. So yeah, you have your right to believe what you want... but when I see fatuous comments like "kids raised by gay parents grow up to try to kiss dudes in school" or questioning our morality as consenting adults, I have a right to rebuttal with facts. All that was presented here are statistics on the effects of gays raising children, and our financially ability to support them... which pertains directly to the ballot... it doesn't shock me that you wave it off as, "I'll believe what I want to believe" I deal with every day on government, public radio and the 700 club! By the way, we are from having cake, that would mean we are equal, you and I both know better than that!

"kids raised by gay parents grow up to try to kiss dudes in school" I see your point but take that paragraph above back fucker. I never said that! No, I didn't imply it either so don't even try it. You're arguing with the wrong guy about this.
It's verified that is a very low chance that kids from homosexual couples to be gay

If you have the desire, time, and finances to have a child, then you shouldn't be denied the right to adopt. Was Joel Steinburg gay? Didn't he kill his adopted daughter just for looking at him?
Steinburg had a wife. He also freebased coke a lot. Him AND his wife were both a bit nutty. She thought he had godlike super powers and he had some f-ed dissociate disorder. Plus, Steinburg didn't adopt legally adopt the girl. Odd as it sounds, he just kind of took her from the adoption agency...
if michael jackson is allowed to have children.. anyone should be.
American Psychological Association recently came out in favor of gay marriage because the research overwhelmingly demonstrates that children of gay couples are not disadvantaged in any way - emotionally, psychologically, academically, cognitively, etc. The only reason for blocking gay marriage is ignorance or bigotry.
Just because a family doesn't follow the 'model family' we're all aware of doesn't mean a gay couple can't adopt. If that were the case, we might as well keep going and take children away from single parents.
"Last I checked, it wasn't Mr. and Mr. Adam and Steve who raised Hitler." -- Ant
They shouldn't adopt a Constitution that discriminates against them...
There are way 2 many abortions, one every 20 secs, so I think it's fine, but the parents shouldn't raise the kid gay. I know a guy whose dad is gay and the son turned out ok.
I can't beleive people said they shouldn't be able to adopt. They're human beings. Just because they're gay doesn't mean their kids will be. You are born gay, so , technically, the chid cannot inherit the gene as he/she is adopted. So it's all good. Just leave them alone! Their not hurting anyone!!!
Why do gays act innocent? They are very CUNNING AND WILL LIE TO GET IN YOUR PANTS AND SEEM MORE AGGRESSIVE ABOUT IT THAN STRAIGHT PEOLE> IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME GO TO A GAY BAR.
If the 2 people involved are fit to be parents and can care for the child in all aspects, why should it matter? Surely the child being cared for is the most important thing, and no who is doing the caring.
It's better than having the taxpayers pay to support all those orphans.
Sorry I skipped one of your comments Moe ( i just thought u had it right) Anyway, i just want to point out that one of the reasons why many homosexuals are so succesful is because ( i think) theyre pushed to prove others that they can be more than what we may take them to be (bigotted view). Besides, i have to say, "Thanks, you guys for NYC! Awesome place" =)
