THE BEST WAYS TO CHANGE SOMEONE'S MIND

[+] ballot by Cathexis
created Sun Nov 07, 04

When someone is in disagrees with you, what are the best ways to get them to change their mind?

Ask their viewpoint; work towards common ground
Discussion and debate
Point out the idiocy of their position
Ignore them; they can join or get trampled
Force them to your way of thinking
Lecture them
Berate them as fools
9mm
try and understand why they think the way they do
Reverse psychology :)
Levity and wit!
Give them money
Rabit, season rabit season, duck season now shoot!
Cause Happy_Mc Gnome Says so
start sucking...
Invade their country and steal their oil

Damn. Delete the "in" -- I originally had In Disagreement and screwed up my self edit.

Usually a baseball bat and a broken beer bottle works.

Contrary to popular belief, a soft answer is often capable of turning away rath & arguements.

If you understand more about the person and why they think the way they do about an issue, you will have the insight into what issues to address to sway them over to your way of thinking. Stand in their shoes, understand their view and then play on that.

Well if anyone should know the answer, it's the US military. Their solution would seem to be TORTURE.

Pretend you agree with their beliefs, and then they'll change theirs.

Haha, Mags, which is your preferred method? ;)

Cathexis: Thanks. Here's an example: Anytime I went shopping with my mother when I was a teenager and she commented that she liked a certain dress, I would immediately dislike it, even if I liked it before she said anything.

Wow ... I started off trying to tease you, but ... maybe that tactic *does* work very well!
