COMMENTS:
I think it will take several catastrophes.
Too many in the US think of an axis with Business on one end and Environment on the other. I believe they will shrug off all indications until the problem(s) become too massive for people to continue believing them.
People have other things that they think are more important (like world politics) but nothing is more important than the land you live on.
Tsunamis, floods and disappearing coastlines.
By then it'll be too late of course.
You know what I bet? I bet if George Bush told them it was an important issue they'd all jump right on it :p My fat pig of a uncle would probably start *gasp* recycling if the president would tell him to :p

Maybe after most of mankind is destroyed from the nuclear war, those who are left will be brain-damaged from radiation and will live simple lives in harmony with the environment.

Uh oh, it seems they lied. Why do enviromentalists always have to do that to prove their point? It's almost like their claims are entirely bullshit, unsubstantiated by any actual science.
