I personally believe that every man, woman, and child over the age of 14 in this country, actually on this planet, should be required to watch this movie, if nothing else than the first 45 minutes, to understand what happened in WWII, and the sacrifices that were made by the Allied forces.

ABC, in a gesture of support for troops around the world, is showing "Saving Private Ryan" on Veteran's Day.

ABC has aired this movie twice before without problems, but suddenly, some of the ABC affiliates are balking at airing the movie again.

According to one owner, Bush being re-elected leads him to believe the FCC will be 'more aggressive' in it's posture towards any profanity in over the air broadcasts.

Uhm, considering that the movie has been aired twice before, doesn't this seem rather pathetic?? I mean, it's not like you're going to see an unscripted flabby tit hanging out like we saw during the Super Bowl.

Yes, it's pathetic
No, I don't care about our veterans.

I hate it when the american media portrays american soldiers in a positive way. Fortunately that hardly ever happens.

Don't forget that Vin Diesel gets killed in it.

It's a rad movie I saw it right before I went to Air Force Boot Camp. It scarred the shit outta me.
by lowerclassbrats on Thu Nov 11, 04 1:20pm [+]

Well, actually I only agree that it's pathetic.

The notion of forcing people to watch a movie is ridiculous.
by magdalenasdollar on Thu Nov 11, 04 1:22pm [+]

You never know, we may be forced to watch these kind of movies in years to come. I wonder if Bush would approve of the little plan you got there Jen.
by xxxxxxxx on Thu Nov 11, 04 3:39pm [+]

Unless the contract specifically states so, no network affiliate is required to show any special broadcasts. And no one is being FORCED to watch anything; your remote comes with an on/off button, as well as channel up/down.

I'm SCARED. I AGREE with her...

Who would've thought that one bare breast could so alter the landscape of the Cosmos?

Saving Private Ryan has some good gore in it but the film itself is pure syrupy Spielberg. Get it out on video if the tv won't show it. Then you can slo-mo the amputee stuntman gore to your heart's content.
