COMMENTS:
Yes - if a person is labeled as a pedophile in particular, there is always a lingering doubt.

Yes it does. People hear those words and take a look at the person being accused and from there on they don't think that the person might not have done it.
It wasn't always that way. 'Tis the governments via the media that makes it that way, especially where TERRORISM is concerned. The ultimate taboo, the governments hope. So mere accusation will be enough to remove any sympathy from the accused and give the government a free rein to imprison, torture and kill. Has Osama Bin Laden been tried? Does he even exist? Is he perhaps an actor?
Maybe Osama isn't the best example. How about the residents of Guantanemo Bay. Many of them are JOURNALISTS and RELATIVES of suspected terrorists. Relatives! Yet Bush helped fly the Bin Laden family out of the USA straight after 9/11.
I dunno Keith, it's been this way for awhile. I'm thinking of the Salem witch trials. Talk about mass hysteria.
Good point, Applerod!
being a pedophile is the worst!
An additional related ballot might be, "Do some people care more about criminals than victims?"
