These ships have been allowed to kill up to 440 Minke whales.
Our marine life populations are suffering globally from our overfishing as it is.
Shouldn't all nations be running aqua culture farms to meet our needs for seafoods.
I can understand that to farm whales for food would present great difficulties, but if we put more effort into farming seafood alternatives, then shouldn't we be able to satisfy our needs without overfishing the oceans and the slaughter of these magnificent intelligent creatures?

Whaling Commision shoud stop the whaling
Whaling Commision should allow more whaling
Oprah and Rosie Odonnel better avoid the beach

COMMENTS:
The Whaling Commission should stop the killing, but unfortunately they are a bunch of hypocrites, like many international conservation bodies.

Yes ZIG, It's not a good situation for our marine life and environment when international conservation bodies purport to be looking after the environment, but yet leave us suspicious of their motives when they fail to act in the interests of the well being of our environment, especially in this case where natural balances are upset through human selfishness and greed.

I know there are some genuinely good conservation organizations, but many of them claim to exist in the best interests of wildlife, and yet turn a blind eye/ear to wholesale slaughter such as this.

It's only damaging to the environment if done by whites, don't you know that? That's why india and china get a free pass on the kyoto treaty, and native populations are allowed to kill anything they want for any reason they want, no matter how off limits they are to the rest of us.
by herzog on Sat Nov 13, 04 9:28pm [+]

herzog,
That is illegal in the Australian fishing zone and those breaking that law are hunted down by the Australian Navy, even if it is half way around the world and they have caught several as Australia is very attractive to overseas poachers.
Even the people who have come to Australia from Asia and break local fishing rules get the law come down on them hard, but I do understand what you are saying and it is for this very reason that their waters are so depleted of marine life.

Hunting Whales is about as un-civil as trading in human slaves.

There comes a point when humanity SIMPLY KNOWS BETTER,
and stops the nonsense.

Whaling is a Crime Against Nature and its vital Biodiversity.
Whale hunters should be dragged kicking and screaming like brat-kids, to The Hague, where they should be tried and found guilty of being a Stupid Human SPHINCTER in need of a brain..
- and a Real Job.
