Some of those homeschooled kids are really fucked up.
There are far more factors involved such as who the teachers are and how good they are. It is also very important for children to socialise with people of their own age, which can be a drawback of home schooling.
school?
Gotta go with cleatus on this one
I've seen homeschooled kids in college who were well adjusted and incredibly intelligent. I think there are 2 types of home schooling, the isolationist, fundamentalist type vs. personalized learning designed by intelligent parents who are genuinely committed to their childrn's education. my lab partner was one of the latter, 15 year old wunderkind knowitall on full scholarship + "had enough scholarship money left over to buy a new car" type. :)

Probably homeschool
Homeschooling is a really good alternative if you have patience and imagination, because it encourages creative thinking and confidence. Most people think of a lack of socialization as a major drawback, but it's pretty easy to achieve a good balance with outside activities. Plus our house always has a constant procession of kids meandering in and out after 3pm. :)
Spare the rod and spoil the child. beat them with the rod daily. that'll learn 'em.
Is that what happened to you then, cc?
Probably going to a private school is better, though I've heard that this isn't the case in countries other than the US. Homeschooling depends on the parents' ability. I don't see lack of socialization as a problem or a necessary result of homeschooling. I wasn't homeschooled, and I socialized much less than many homeschooled kids.
What is Homeschooling? Let's look a bit closer. You can be homeschooled by: A. A college educated person with their child's best interest as their main focus. OR B. An uneducated, religious fanatic who believes the end of the world is coming and the GOVERNMENT is the Anti Christ. So, homeschooling has a WIDE range of quality.
My 7-year old daughter's homeschooled friend was getting teased one day. "Kaitlyn and Julian, sitting in a tree..." She got mad and, said "What are we doing in a tree?" Do you really want your children sitting up in a tree with a boy, not knowing what the hell to do next? Maybe so..... Anyway, the social experience is hugely important, though sometimes frustrating, to children
