There are two separate questions here.
There are cultures in which killing, rape, stoning, pedophilia and cannibalism are the norm so there can be no way that I would consider them to be valid compared to more civilized cultures.
Monkeys at the zoo that throw their own shit at each other are more civilized than some human cultures.
Same question mags. I didn't ask if american culture is the same as everyone elese specifically. Throw them all in together and are they all the same, or do some rise to the top?
The existence of any culture makes it valid, but who cares about validity. Personally, I'm into interesting, fun or decadent cultures--that's what I shoot for. Hell, if all cultures were equal what would be the purpose of vacations?
American Culture? Have you ever been to Oklahoma, Herzog? Be careful, someone might assume that just because Oklahoma is in America that it has culture. NEWS FLASH--there is no culture in Oklahoma. Futhermore, when the wind blows south you can smell Oklahoma all the way to Brownsville.
I do not consider myself to be a cultural relatavist. If there is a better way, share it. Humanity should work together in areas where there are common goals. Forcing people to adapt is a different story, though. Ultimately I feel people should worry about themselves first.

The assumption on this ballot seems to be that if you believe you own culture has any merit at all that is the same as saying you want to bomb and subjugate the entire world and force them to think and act the way you do. I'm not sure how this got started, but it's wrong.
For example: you know that your football team is better than the football team from a rival state, no doubt about it. Then you find out that the people in that other state believe their football team to be superior, do you ignore them confident in your own righteousness, or do you get a bunch of your buddies together and go burn that other state to the ground, demanding they accept your view of football?
No, you play the game. And then Oklahoma comes to your state and kicks the sh*t out of your team and then you get pissed and go to Oklahoma and burn they're state to the ground.

Yes, to me they're all the same just different. It's based on opinion whether one person like one culture and another person likes another.

THC, I assume you're talking about Arabic culture. I have to say that no culture is perfect. Take a look at US culture. It's full of violence, drugs, and crime. Might not be the types of things PC people would say is a part of American culture but it is becoming part of American culture. Get my drift?
An iranian boy was whiped to death recently for breaking his fast during ramadan. This wasn't an anomaly, this was a legal decree handed down by the islamic courts in iran.

Of course the moral relativists will come out and say 'well that's their culture', and 'well we watch violent movies so it's really no different'.

At least the protestors saw something wrong with that punishment. The Mullah broke the law of the Qu'ran by giving out that kind of punishment. Punishment for theft is 100 lashes but breaking fast is a lot less worse than theft in those countries.

YOU SEE - IT SEEMS AS THOUGH PEOPLE COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THERE CULTURE, BUT AS LONG AS THEY KNOW WHATEVER CULTURE THEY ARE, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO SAY THAT ONE IS THE BEST ONE!
