yeah, when films have a bad ending it makes you think a little bit about what the characters should of done better in order in order to prevent the bad ending from happening.

But isnt that more realistic though? Because we ALWAYS think like that with hindsight we could have done things different.
True, but with movies with happy endings, the protagonist wins you really don't need to give to think too much, it give you a sense of closure. Thats what you consider to be a "happy ending", but if you hate the protagonist, then it would actually be a unhappy ending. When a story doesn't satisfy you, you tend to think of ways for that it could of satisfied you. If the ending satifisied you, you tend to overlook the other possiblities.
Exactly, so the directors use a happy ending to cover up frailties in the plot, i hate it! Its psychological manipulation on a grand scale!
