IF A NEW ELECTED LEADER OF IRAQ TOLD THE U.S. TO LEAVE, WOULD THE U.S. DO IT?

[+] serious ballot by Liberal_Democrat
created Sun Dec 05, 04

Lets say it's 2/1/2005 and the new elected leader of Iraq finally takes power. If he told the U.S. to leave Iraq's boarders and that all U.S. companies had to leave then would the U.S. leave and do as the elected leader said or would they make up something like he's a terrorist and declare him to be a dictator or tyrant, and start over again?

Yes, the U.S. would leave
No, the U.S. would not leave
I'm not sure

COMMENTS:
I think so. I would say that they would have no choice and as much as I think the Bush administration is too hard headed and arrogant, I think they would. If Iraq was still in turmoil though, I don't what the course of action would or should be??

Hell no -- Bush thinks he's all-powerful and he can do anything he wants.
by xxxxxxxx on Sun Dec 05, 04 2:06am [+]

they already said they would leave if asked, we will just have to wait and see it they keep their word
by larrynelmira on Sun Dec 05, 04 7:06am [+]

The current administration can ALWAYS be counted on to keep their word... can't they?
by Steelhamster on Sun Dec 05, 04 8:23am [+]

Oh yes, Steel, they are always true to their word. To prove it:

2 days before the election, George Bush stated: "I will not touch Social Securtiy, so let me be clear on this, I have no plans to reform Social Security."

Less than one day after the election, George Bush sayys: "I am going to reform Social Security. Let me be clear on this--I will reform Social Security.

Yes, such an honest and forward thinking administration we have...not! :)
by patch22us on Sun Dec 05, 04 9:33am [+]

Are you joking! theres no way he would leave, he'd just use more bullshit rhetoric to warrant hanging around and stealing all the oil!
by Flava on Sun Dec 05, 04 9:34am [+]

patch, actually he did say before the elections that he would consider the investment thing for younger workers. all the candidates agreed way back to the primaries that something had to be done with social security because of the baby boombers retiring
by larrynelmira on Sun Dec 05, 04 9:57am [+]

Hi Larry, I recall that he had talked about reforming social security many months before the election, but I think that because it was such a hotly contenscious issue, he backed off and said that he would not touch it; politicians...they say one thing one day and the complete opposite the next. It's tough to keep track of all the rhetoric, especially at election time. I wish I could say that I feel he is a man of his word, but in my opinion, Bush has a history of going against his promises. I guess Iraq will be a major test to see if he honors his committments.
by patch22us on Sun Dec 05, 04 11:03am [+]

patch, do you think social security will be around in 50 years when we want to retire?
by larrynelmira on Sun Dec 05, 04 11:10am [+]

I hope so Larry! :) I'm not going to bank on it, so I am going to put aside every penny I can...just in case! I know that some consider it to be some form of socialism, but I consider social security to be one of the most vital programs any government can offer it's people (plus, we pay into it). My biggest concern is for people who are less fortunate who have no other means of support when they are elderly.
by patch22us on Sun Dec 05, 04 11:30am [+]

Even though some people pretend that Iraq is improving, the deteriorating security situation might actually postpone the elections. And with America's track record of tampering with its own elections and interfering with other countries' elections (Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine) i'm sure that the new President Stooge will never upset the US (unless the American government want another war, in which case the Iraqis might 'do a Janjaweed').

My answer to this ballot:

Ofcourse we would. It will mean we've done he job, we're done. Are whole desire right now is to get out of Iraq once and for all.
by Dani_dysfunk on Mon Dec 13, 04 9:04pm [+]

We need the OK from the Iraqi Army generals actually, not the leaders. But ofcourse if the leader says so, then off we'll go!
by Dani_dysfunk on Sun Dec 19, 04 12:41pm [+]

As soon as the puppet administration is safe ...( never)
by Upstandingmale on Mon Jul 18, 05 10:06am [+]

I really hate all of you assholes. America has put a lot into Iraq the past few years. 2,000 soliders dead and half a trillion dollars spent. The situation is finally starting to look good and you still moan and bitch like you know what you're talking about. Why don't you just shutup and go to hell!
