Hmmm ... I tried to do this as a related ballot to #61108, but I'm not sur eit worked.
Only, perhaps, if they are pitching something they don't believe in or use themselves. One thing that bothers me is all the free cigarette endorsements I see in films. It's unrealistic when absolutely everyone smokes. Are the tobacco companies behind it? Hmmm.

Not really prostitution but I do think less of celebrities who hawk products. Tacky or sellout are the words that come to mind.

I never thought much about it until I saw a story on "60 Minutes" about all the H'Wood celebs who go voer to Japan and Europe to do commercials. THEN the prostitution analogy came to mind.
The sad truth is that most of them are no talent, over paid whores. :)
Good ballot Cathexis. Please may I post a quote from my favourite comedian, Bill Hicks. He had a very pertinent thing to say about this very issue. "Yeah you really got my act down good, guys. That'll be great. 'You know, when I'm done ranting about elite power that rules the planet under a totalitarian govenment that uses the media in order to keep people stupid, my throat gets parched. That's why I drink orange drink.'" - Bill Hicks, after being asked to do an advertisement for orange drink He also reminded everyone that Jay Leno didn't need to sell snacks to "bovine America" because he already had enough money. Suck Satan's cock, Leno, you unfunny pile of dogshit. Ha.
Its like musicians that endorse a certain guitar or amp. Alot of them don't use the equipment at all.
By that logic models are prostituting the image of their bodies, builders are prostituting the use of their bodies and novelists are prostituting their imaginations and often their memeories. I think the main difference is that prostitutes have to endure the "act" as long as it lasts, whereas celebrities can sell their image and it can be recreated over and over for different purposes. Plus Id imagine its a lot more pleasant to get your photo taken than give some fat sweaty businessman a hand job!
