The key word here is "illegal". Anyone who hires "illegals" should face criminal charges too.

Well let's see, I think if we look at the word ILLEGAL in the term illegal immigrants it may shed some light on this subject.
Yes, entering the US illegally and without legal documents makes you a criminal. I agree _B, anyone who hires them is a criminal as well. That includes Texas ranchers who smuggle cheap workers over the boarder.
I think many Americans have the misconception that we need criminal immigrants, but that just isn't so. We can have our able bodied welfare recipiens do the undesirable labor currently performed by the criminal labor force. They come here and don't pay taxes while reaping the benefits ex. health care, schooling, welfare and many of them fill our prisons. California overwhelmingly passed prop 187 which would have cut off all benefits to these leeches, but an all knowing pompous federal court said it was unconstitutional. Seal the borders yesterday and deport all illegals immediatly.
All conservatives and Republicans need to realize Bush is to blame for not fixing this problem. He has the power but chooses to do nothing. Shame on you President Bush!
Make 'em line up at the INS office like I had to, that's what I say! I was always legal, but used to have trouble at the INS office in Sacramento because no one spoke English! The Charleston SC office was much more accomodating to a LEGAL alien who could speak the language.

Yes, but as for whether they are found guilty and sent home, or detained here is the question. If they are sent home, will they go to jail for a crime they were convicted of here? If they stay here and are detained, the tax payer has to cover that expense. If jailed here, when they get out, do we send them home or will they blend back in here and never leave? If jailed here, should we bill their home government for the costs? Tough questions for a tough topic. Now go and discuss! LOL
Keep them here and force them to work while in prison. They claim they're here to work anyway, give them the opporunity.
Sending them home costs us money, and they just come back anyway. What we need is to use the military to help protect the border... I dont understand why Bush is against doing that.

I dont remember U.S. forefathers being formaly accepted as citizens by native americans. and once we get rid of illegals some of our products will become more expensive. I say we start stealing people from across our borders and start enslaving them.

I am not against allowing people to migrate to this country but I also believe that it should be a two way street. I have seen many times where vicente fox, president of mexico has snivelled to the U.S government that we are not allowing enough of his people come to our country for a better life and to reap the benefits of an american way of life, (yet), I have never seen mr. fox offer to open his border to americans, iraquis, canadians, cubans, africans, or any other group of foreiners who wish to migrate to his poverished nation.His government has a massive amount of corruption in it, yet he wants us to open our borders to his people to come to america and live off of our successes.I think mexico needs to clean up their drug trade, clean up their corruption in government, and tear down their borders and allow others to come to mexico without restrictions and practice what he preaches or shut his face....He should also offer every immigrant to his country free medical, foodstamps, subsidised public housing, social security, free medical,etc. etc. etc.

well if you want to be technical, everybody who breaks law are criminals. jaywalkers to marijuana smokers to tax cheats and speeders. it makes me sick to see closet racists rant about "national security", and use the fear tactics to justify their actions.
So you want to take drivers licenses, education, and other basic needs from those hispanics, chinese , etc. Geez, didn't we go through this 100 years ago with the Chinese exclusion act? so how should we treat them, burn them out of their homes and kick them to the border?

Illegal immigrants should be shipped off to Gitmo, where they will have *no* rights and treated to 19th century Devils' Island style living conditions. Provided they survive their prison time, they'll be deported back to their country of origin where they can live out their life and spread the word against all that would attempt to live in the U.S. illegally.
It's not there fault it is the system for being so flawed.
