Too many people don't want news; they want affirmation of their existing views.
Anything that fails to affirm (or worse: conflicts) is written off as Biased Media.
It's my perspective that the NeoConservative movement does have the worst offenders.
Did the NY post present an obviously forged document as fact? A document, that had they bothered to authenticate it or even glanced at it before airing it, would have been immediately revealed as an obvious fake?
Screwing up the news is one thing, making it up is another thing entirely.
CBS didn't "make up" the news -- they used an inaccurate source. It happens. Lighten up on the "making it up" thing -- take it from someone with a media degree (which I have): CBS didn't intentionally fuck up the news.
And the Post mistake was a huge conspiracy right?
I never said that. It seems like an honest mistake -- a reporter got some bad "inside info" and jumped the gun.
I just think the CBS mistake was WAY bigger than the Post mistake. Identifying the wrong running mate isn't even in the same ballpark as accusing someone of breaking the law.
Please CT, they obviously knew it was a fraud from the beginning.
They either forged it themselves, or turned a blind eye on an obvious forgery. Either way what they did was far worse than what the post did.

Besides, with other media scrutinizing them, do you think CBS would blatantly take a black eye to hurt Bush. HELL NO.

BTW, there was a count of all guests who appeared on FOX News, CNN, and MSNBC during the channels' January 20 inauguration coverage between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET. It found that Republican and conservative guests and commentators outnumbered Democrats and progressives 17 to 6 on FOX, 10 to 1 on CNN (not including a Republican-skewed panel featuring Ohio voters), and 13 to 2 on MSNBC.
Moreover, the rare Democrat or progressive guest usually appeared opposite conservatives, whereas most Republican and conservative guests and commentators appeared solo or alongside fellow conservatives.
Liberal Media? The peopel making that accusation have no shame or live in a fantasy world that should be leased to Disney.

I love how I have studied the media thoroughly and, in fact, have a degree in the media, and someone who doesn't know how the media operates is trying to tell me how the media operates.
Because they had such a hate for Bush that they couldnt wait to break the story without checking the facts. I had a huge smile on my face when it turned out to be a bunch of lies. And CBS is not neutral news source.
