This morning, I caught a local story here in Atlanta that has national ramifications. A man who was on the Fed no-fly list was caught on a flight from Bogota, Colombia and placed in custody after it was discovered that he had stolen an identity in order to board the plane. That identity turned out to be that of a man who was ALSO on the no-fly list. (Hey, they never said that crime was a high-IQ profession!)

But that's not the issue here. The issue is the implementation of the rules, that anyone on the list is allowed to board a flight, and notification is not given to the airlines until fifteen minutes after the plane takes off. Does this make sense to anyone?

COMMENTS:
This has been rooting around under my skin for a few months now, and this story was the last straw. To let someone who might be a terrorist on the plane, and then tell anyone who might be able to do anything about it fifteen minutes after the plane's in the air? Maybe that's why I've taken to driving out of town...
