Saddam was only removed after he started funding freedom fighters in Palestine. A wealthy anti-isreali occupation state such as Iraq would be the ultimate obsticle for Isreali US hegemony in the region. Iraq is sitting on 1 trillion dollars worth of oil. Of course it serves a dual purpose.

Saddams mistake was attacking kuwait! the rest is a bit of neither here nor there! I agree it will have helped shape the motivation but not just for that purpose! I agree that there are a bunch of people in the corridors of power in america that tailor things to theyre own ends! history proves this to be normal! any country that stretches out and aids people who agree with its policies aventualy gets to this point! it happened in roem the classic example! it just colapsed under the strain! Huge reform that would require a whole new political structure. But that probably won't happen anytime soon.

Probably many more than you think, but the quasi-socialists are almost as bad and get most of my scorn.
