Foreign English teachers take their vacations this time of year in exotic Asian locales. 2 of my friends who teach in a school near mine were in Phuket Thailand when the Tsunami struck. They managed to get a phone call through , they're banged up but alive. They said one minute they're on the beach enjoying the sunshine with a cool drink. The next minute everyone is screaming and running like hell from the approaching wall of water. No one could run fast enough. They could only hold on to a palm tree as the current ripped around them.Those who tried to reach out to others were swept away themselves.This is the only humanitarian ballot I hope I ever have to write. It is a simple request to reach out and help any way you can. If you donate to a relief agency , make sure it is a legitimate one. These Natural disasters bring out the best and worst in humanity. Scumbags set up bogus relief agencies and pocket the money. There's a million ways to help volunteering , donations ,anything. I wish all of you a safe and happy New Year. Take care of yourselves and the ones you love. Remember any good you do always goes to a good cause. Maxxman.

Swedish travel agencies have the number of unaccounted for Swedes in Thailand at 1,600.The World wide death toll has exceeded 30,000 and expected to climb above 50,000. This is devastation on a biblical scale.Here in Seoul there are 2 Canadian teachers and one australian whose whereabouts remain unknown.All I can do is keep trying to reach them , and contribute to the relief effort.

It's been reported that the wave struck shore at the exact time many were having breakfast inside their hotels. Those trapped inside never had a chance to run.

And so many children lost. It's horrible. It makes you feel so helpless. Please let me know if anyone finds a legitimate relief organization to contact and donate to.

55,000 people lost their lives. 1/3 of the dead are children. That is so sad. I want to donate to help. Also the earthquake/tsunami changed the geography of Indonesia by about 98 feet , thats what cnn said.
