Stanley Bach died at Methodist Hospital. Prosecutors said he was admitted after his 89-year-old wife, Lulu Bach, hit him repeatedly with the poker. Lulu Bach faces a felony assault charges. Police said they were called to Methodist Hospital Monday and Stanley Bach told them he had been attacked by his wife. He said she struck him repeatedly with the fireplace poker. An autopsy is being conducted on Stanley Bach to determine the exact cause of death. Prosecutors said those results will factor into whether Lulu Bach faces charges for assault, or for the death of her husband. Lulu Bach invited KETV NewsWatch 7's Brandi Petersen into her home Wednesday morning, but wouldn't comment on the case. She said her husband had been sick, and she showed Petersen her dog. Petersen said the house was neat and well kept, and that Lulu Bach was frail and had trouble walking, but was very polite. Stanely Bach was know as "Doc" and had been a physician in Nebraska during his working years. "It was quite a shock, because I didn't know her and I'd only met Doc while taking walks in the neighborhood," said one of the Bachs' neighbors. "I didn't know if he had a wife or if he lived alone. I wasn't sure at first, then we kinda knew that there was a wife, but she didn't come out a lot and she wasn't healthy." As prosecutors try to figure out what happened inside the home, neighbors are reflecting on their loss. "He was friendly, he always liked seeing the boys and he walked his dog out to the mailbox," a neighbor said. Another neighbor said her daughter was raking leaves for the Bachs this fall when Lulu Bach came out and yelled at her. That was the only contact their family had with the accused.
