ARE AMERICAN SOLDIERS DYING EVERYDAY FOR A LOST CAUSE?

[+] ballot by RobinGaylord
created Thu Dec 30, 04

I just don’t think that our efforts are having the desired effect. They haven’t so far and only blind ambition and faith could make me believe that they ever will. We can’t work against the Iraqi people. People have to want democracy for it to work and that goes for America too. How can anyone justify an ineffective war where people are dying? What do you think? Are American soldiers dying everyday for a lost cause?

Yes.
No.

COMMENTS:
No the fact that we have saddam means it's not a lost cause! not to mention I think your buying into what the left , not to mention the ubl's of the world want you to believe.
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:28am [+]

Yes, its a shame to see those kids gettin killed for a bad cause. Its to bad the people who make these decitions dont have to risk their lives.
by ABC on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:29am [+]

so does this mean you are joining the army everygirl and going to fight in Iraq?
by ABC on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:32am [+]

not to mention they are about to get to vote like Afghanistan has, if that doesn't kinda thrill you as a person raised in a free country, I guess the left will never understand what we've done over there
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:35am [+]

It is a noble cause, the problem is that the Americans are still being sensitive to the culture that exists there i.e, being very selective in picking targets, where as the insurgents are not.
by Bafkoof on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:37am [+]

no Abc I have 3 kids can't but would consider it if I didn't have the kids , also the left loves to act like these guys are there against their will, when are you guys going to give up on that no one believes that unless they want to so your preaching to the already converted
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:38am [+]

So you would want your 3 kids to go fight in Iraq?
by ABC on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:40am [+]

good point Bafkoof the insurgents don't play by the same rules but being the "good guys" (& yes I do consider us the good guys) we try to , also you've got to remember the press is mainly left wing, a man called a radio show I listen to & said his son e-mailed him asking why doesn't the press tell the truth about all the good we're doing? & that says it all!
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:41am [+]

kids don't fight in Iraq Abc & no but do you want your kids to die at the hands of someone like saddam just because of where they were born, & the fact that certain people don't care enough to put a stop to it?
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:42am [+]

The Powers That Be have yet to prove a link between Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden.

If not because of 9/ll, WHY IN HELL ARE WE SENDING OUR FINEST TO DIE IN IRAQ?
by mojo on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:47am [+]

everygirl, if Bush had said we are going for that reason, maybe , my bro is there and I support what he is doing, because he is my brother, but he did not have a choice to go or not go to Iraq, he had a choice to go in the military and guess that goes with the job, he joined after 911, and I'm not going to speak for him, because I'm not sure how he feels about it. Also, so many innocent people have and still are being killed in parts of the world with no oil and I do not see us rushing in to help them
by larrynelmira on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:50am [+]

Ok, from what I understand you believe in the cause, but you wouldnt want your kids to fight for it. that says alot everygirl. As far as Saddam goes he like many other leaders are evil and no one cares, which brings us to the real reason for the war, control of oil reserves and that is not worth my life or my childrens, we have plenty of oil in Canada.
by ABC on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:50am [+]

also, since we are there, I pray things do work out for the Iraqi's so we can bring our troops home. Let them choose who they want to run their country and hopefully they will ask us to leave.
by larrynelmira on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:55am [+]

amen!
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:58am [+]

A person joins the army to serve his or her country and not to question the commander and chief.
by Bafkoof on Thu Dec 30, 04 11:59am [+]

mojo because of a little thing called mass murder I can't believe you guys don't care about the horrors he visited on the Iraqi people!
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:00pm [+]

I don't think anyone is saying we don't care, but if we are going to use this as excuse to go to war, then , we need a much larger military, because what Saddam did , is being done right now, as we speak in parts of the world. and come everygirl, you must know that is not why we are really in Iraq?
by larrynelmira on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:04pm [+]

if vlad the impaler was alive today would you say Bush was a jerk for going after him too?
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:06pm [+]

it's a convenient excuse, I'll give you that, and again, I hope we succeed in giving their country back, that would be waste of life for our troops who have died and for the thousands of innocent Iraq's caught up in this war.
by larrynelmira on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:08pm [+]

If Bush had said , he wanted to take saddam out because of his human rights violations, sadly , I really doubt if he would have gotton the support of the american people as he did when he claimed Saddam was a threat to the usa.
by larrynelmira on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:10pm [+]

north korea is sitting over there with nuclear bombs and we are talking with them.
by larrynelmira on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:12pm [+]

that's just the point we can talk to Korea right now we don't have to go to war ? what is it that you guys have a problem with ? war is sad but has put an end to alot of suffering over the years & wouldn't you rather we talk than go to war? we had gotten to the point with saddam where talking wasn't an option , you may not like it but the only way to take him down was war , he made that clear
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:15pm [+]

if that did not happen I should have said, and I'm going to shutup now, I'm sounding so left, it's scaring me.
confused
by larrynelmira on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:17pm [+]

"it's a convenient excuse" Oh my God man what do you call convenient about 300,000 murder victims? & why do you guys on the left only seem to care about the people hurt by war & not the people saddam murdered? & there is no telling what was done to the victims before he & his "men" killed them
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:18pm [+]

you had to do it, I don't remember us trying to talk to Iraq, far as I understood, the un inspections were going along fine, and apparently from what we know now, were working.
by larrynelmira on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:19pm [+]

now that is scary, I'm defending the UN
by larrynelmira on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:20pm [+]

'mojo because of a little thing called mass murder I can't believe YOU GUYS don't care about the horrors visited on the Iraqi people!'

Everygirl, listen to larrynelmira's wise words.

As for suggesting I don't care about mass murder - what the hell are you talking about? As long as we have a 'you vs us' mentality in this country, we have no business telling others how to run THEIR countries.
by mojo on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:20pm [+]

you have your right to your opinion everygirl, I used to think exactly the same as you are, but stop saying we do not care about 300 thousand people, I think what we are saying," that is not the reason we are there."
by larrynelmira on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:25pm [+]

There is no way to confirm this number of 300000, whatever the real number is no one knows. But keep in mind what pecentage of those bodies are casualties of the Iran Iraq war (which the US supplied weapons) and the 1st gulf war. There is no denying Saddam was evil, and there is no denying Bush is evil as well.
by ABC on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:47pm [+]

We are right back to the two wrongs dont make a right gambit.Murder is bad except to stop murder.A wrong is a wrong is a wrong,no matter what color you paint it.
by Qui_Qui on Thu Dec 30, 04 12:58pm [+]

santions were the way we tried to deal with saddam, & this business about can't confirm? now
Bush is lying ? the people over there give those numbers too, & us vs. them?what was the last election about? that seemed to be all the liberal dems could talk about.
by everygirl on Thu Dec 30, 04 1:31pm [+]

The best thing about a free country is you can say and think what you want. You can also believe everyone elses opinion and justify your fellow citizens deaths. I think if you honestly believe its a good thing, join the army, you would not be the 1st casualty who has kids.
by ABC on Thu Dec 30, 04 1:45pm [+]

Who thinks that everygirl ruins every ballot she decides to comment on with her absolute tripe? I do.
by cretin_slap on Fri Dec 31, 04 3:54am [+]

I really think you guys on the left are failing to see the humanity of the people in these mass graves 300,000 lives , children included, just as human as you & they loved their children as much as we love ours, diapers , bottles , playing with the cat everyday stuff for these human beings just like it is for us. To say their lives weren't worth fighting for? then how are any of ours lives worth anything?
by everygirl on Fri Dec 31, 04 9:46am [+]

So bad people kill & now We have to be bad people LIKE THEM & kill...You are f*@kin nuts.
by Qui_Qui on Fri Dec 31, 04 10:43am [+]

Sorr but when you stoop to their level, you lose. Its self condemnation.
by Qui_Qui on Fri Dec 31, 04 10:47am [+]

Those kids are dying so coporate America has a new market place to expand into, and another source of cheap labor.

The whole purpose of the war is to install a U.S. friendly puppet government that will give access to their markets for American products and let American Corporations get a foothold and head start in the Arab marketplace.

And don't forget a U.S. friendly government will give us easy access to the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world.

China is fast becoming the largest oil using country in the world. We had to make sure we secured U.S. access to that oil before Saddam gained nuclear weapons. Once Saddam had nuclear weapons, Saddam wouldn't sell the U.S. any oil, while China would become their number one customer.

Because China would consume enourmous quantities of oil, it would make Saddam far more richer and powerful than he is now and would allow him to dominate events in that part of the world.

The war is about economics. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NOBLE CAUSES LIKE FREEING THE IRAQI PEOPLE AND BRINGING DEMOCRACY TO THE MIDDLE EAST.
by Grapost on Fri Dec 31, 04 4:24pm [+]

robin you are a fucking loser
by xxxxxxxx on Fri Dec 31, 04 4:48pm [+]

evergirl, Bush killed more iraqi civilians in the war than Saddam killed his whole life, he should be the war crimminal since he started the war. Bush is a hippocrite. Thats like I shoot you for no reason and blame it on you. Also in the Islamic world, it is not rare to see dictators gain control, thats the way the religion is set up. Look in the history, there was never a elected leader. Also the US wants oil (duh), first bush's excuse was "iraq has WMD", no evidence was found. Then after he found none, he changed the subject to "operation Iraqi freedom." Finally Saddam's reign is foreign affairs, Bush just like to mess up the midwest and want the islams to hate him more. Now a vast amounts of them are considering Americans imperialists, and "infidels", also osama's reason to attack america is because he saw american troops in one of the most islamic considered holy city, thus he wanted to stop the imperialists. If ever boy today saw that, then that would be like thousands of osamas in the future. The war will just make the USA have more enemies. Don't you pro-war people understand?

As lost as lost can be. But, to Bush, the cause is not lost. His cause is his own ego. So, for him, no amount of lives are wasted.
